Poland bans sale of e-cigarettes to minors, public vaping

Poland will ban the sale of popular e-cigarettes to minors and their use in public spaces under a law that comes into effect on Thursday. Adopted by parliament in July, the new measures put e-cigarettes on a par with their traditional tobacco-based counterparts, making it illegal to sell them to anyone under 18 years of age or "vape" anywhere that smoking is banned.

Ban on 'life-saving' e-cigarettes 'unethical'

Forty international and Australian academics have written to the Therapeutic Goods Administration in support of the application from the New Nicotine Alliance, a not-for-profit body that advocates safer alternatives to tobacco smoking. Tobacco on the back foot?

The CJEU has recently found the Tobacco Products Directive to be valid. The Directive regulates the following across the EU in relation to tobacco products: labelling; ingredients; tracking and tracing; e-cigarettes; and cross-border sales. Smoking banned at ACT playgrounds and play spaces

Smoking is now banned at playgrounds and play spaces in the ACT. Lighting up a tobacco cigarette or e-cigarette is prohibited within 10 metres of play equipment, regardless of whether children are present or not. The change is the first made under new laws that allow ministers to declare areas smoke-free without legislation. Assistant Health Minister Meegan Fitzharris said it was a logical move.
