Turkey withdraws plans to loosen tobacco control laws

In a public statement made at the Turkish Grand National Assembly Commission on Planning and Budget on 17 October 2017, Minister of Finance Naci Ağbal stated that plans to allow the importation and production of heat-not-burn tobacco products and electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) in Turkey were withdrawn. He confirmed that these products would not be sold or produced in the country.


It’s time to fight back against unregulated vapes

Vaping has become incredibly ubiquitous over the past few years. It’s been showing up at parties, on campus and pretty much anywhere else you’d expect people to be. Marlboro maker Altria Group Inc. said it has developed ways of producing reduced-nicotine cigarettes and aspires to become the U.S. market leader in noncombustible tobacco products such as e-cigarettes, [...] On Thursday, Altria's Chief Executive Marty Barrington told investors that the Richmond, Va., company for years has been preparing for "a new axis of competition."


Japanese Company Gives Non-Smokers an Extra Week of Vacation

There are a lot of benefits of choosing not to smoke. [...] And, if you happen to work for the Japanese marketing firm Piala Inc, you get a lot more vacation time. The company has introduced a paid leave allowance to non-smokers, giving them an extra six days off per year. And though many companies offer some sort of incentive to kick the butts for health and insurance reasons, at Piala, it’s all about fairness.
