Is vaping a good alternative?

Four health professionals gathered at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Wednesday to discuss the current social matter of vaping as a healthier alternative to smoking cigarettes. In November last year, South Africa’s health department released statements concerning its intention to integrate a ‘no compromise’ position on vaping and vaping products, as well as its view that vaping is the equivalent of smoking cigarettes.

Japan urged to go smoke-free by 2020 Tokyo Olympics

Anti-smoking campaigners in Japan have called on the government to make restaurants and bars smoke-free in time for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and end the country’s reputation as a smoker’s paradise. Japan is expected to pass legislation soon that will ban smoking in or near public buildings [...] but the bill says the crackdown will apply to restaurants only in principle.

GPs support legalisation of cannabis

The majority of GPs support the legalisation of cannabis for therapeutic use, but not the Government’s policy on decriminalisation. A survey by the Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP) found male GPs and those with higher levels of addiction training are more likely to support a more liberal drug policy approach to cannabis for personal use.
