Delhi High Court today restrained city government from taking any coercive action against the sellers and distributors of chewable tobacco on pleas by its manufacturers against ban on sale of the product in the national capital from March 30. The manufacturers had contended that the state government has no power to issue such a notification under the Food Safety and Standards Act.

A new study out this week shows that sales products related to e-cigarettes were up last month in the convenience channel. The latest Balvor Retailer Composite (BRC) shows that dollar sales of Electronic Nicotine Devices (END) were up 7.1% last month in the c-store channel, while retail units sold grew by more than a quarter (26.4%).
