April update

Hello and welcome to the April PBO update,

On the agenda this month is the first in a series of PBO design principle collaborations amongst Australia’s work integrated social enterprises (WISEs): PBO rate cards.

There is much knowledge and wisdom in our sector on this topic (and many others!), and through your participation in surveys and discussions, we aim to capture, synthesise and make sense of the data that will help in the proposed PBO pilot with the Commonwealth Government in 2022.

So, what do we mean by 'rate card'?

A work integrated social enterprise (WISE) sector rate card reflects the real and essential costs incurred by social enterprises in order to employ, train and support people with complex needs who face significant barriers to employment. This does not include cohort salary costs, but may include organisational wrap around support costs.

What does a representative sector-wide rate card range look like?

A comprehensive data set that gives consideration to the breadth and depth of WISE training and wrap around support activities and costs will help to align negotiations and deliberations with all levels of Government and Philanthropic funding partners on what effective PBOs look like.

"How can I get involved?" We hear you ask!

We have developed a survey to help start us on this journey. It will take you approximately 15-20 min to complete (subject to availability of information). So grab a cuppa and share with us your experiences.
Have your say on PBO rate cards by Wednesday 5 May

Rate Card Focus Groups

If you'd like to hear more about the rate card survey outcomes, or simply share your thoughts with us directly, sign up to join one of our upcoming rate card focus groups:

Expressions of interest

We are also inviting interested jobs-focused social enterprises to submit their expressions of interest in future PBO programs to help us create a pipeline of participant demand in the WISE sector.
Next month we look forward to updating you on the outcomes of our PBO rate card survey, and sharing with you the first draft of the remaining PBO Design Principles as the basis for a collective front in all PBO discussions.

In the meantime, if you have any questions please reach out by directly replying to this email.
