Dear MitOst Community,

MitOst connects active citizens in an open and diverse network in Europe and its neighbouring regions. We encourage activities and implement programmes which foster cultural exchange, active citizenship, social cohesion and sustainable urban and rural development - beyond cultural, sectoral or linguistic borders.

We like to share inspiring stories, learnings and methods as well as people and places you might want to know and visit from our community. And with this first edition of MitOst’s community newsletter, we invite you to explore some of the awesome work around urban and rural spaces that our network is doing.

Cities are in the spotlight of people searching for better futures and realising their hopes and dreams around the world. The continuous growth of cities often come with significant challenges. A large number of people within our networks are concerned about this and, through inspiring projects, work hard to make cities better places for people to live in.

At the same time, city dwellers long to reconnect to nature and to their roots. Many are turning to the countryside in order to live more sustainable, fulfilling lives. Reconnecting urban and rural communities so they learn and gain from one another is a focus for some of the most innovative people and places in our network.

Enjoy the inspiration!

Your MitOst Team,
Joice Biazoto, Sebastian Schlüter and Laura Werling (editorial team)
