Red winner

Zukunft Rind, the breeding event of Qnetics in Germany, was won by a Red Holstein: RZB White Rose (photo). The Colt daughter of Starmark-I Advent Red Rose is owned by Manfred Uhrig. White Rose’s daughter RZB Absolute White became Reserve Champion for the young Red Holsteins, behind BT Absolute Highfly owned by Hauck. While Highfly’s herdmate BT Atwood Patricia triumphed for the black & white seniors. Other winners in the Holstein category were RZB Rainy Lorina owned by Caspar and RZB Octane Licorice owned by Uhrig.  

The highest priced calf at the Qnetics Sale was Delilah. The daughter of Rubicon Dynamo out of De-Su Supershot Delicia sold for €22,000. Anderstrup Delaja, a red & white Pace-Red out of a Nugget from the Dutch Dellia family sold for €10,000. HLB Ortega, a Avicii-Jetset from the Richmond-FD Barbie family, for €8400.

Loana: EX-97

Very recently Canada received a new EX-97 Holstein, namely Jacobs Lauthority Loana from Ferme Jacobs & Pat Conroy. Last year, Loana dazzled as Grand Champion at the World Dairy Expo in Madison and a month later became Reserve Grand during the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto.

Italian Atwoods

The Dairy Show in the Italian Montichiari was won by Castelverde Atwood Perlie from Castelverde Holsteins. Judge Barclay Phoenix crowned Perlie’s half-sister, Anna Lena owned by Errera, Agriber & Ladina, as Reserve Grand. Brawler daughter Du Bon Vent Inkapi owned by Beltramino, Bag2, All.Nure, Bach & Sarreri became HM.

200,000 kg

A few months after Skywalker daughter Carlotta from LLG Iden, Germany now has a second Holstein cow with 200,000 kg. In the RSH region in the far north. She is the 17-year-old Preval daughter Diana from the herd of Ewald Bestmann. Diana is in her 13th lactation and made a highest record of 14,689 kg 3.59% 3.31%. 

Dina: EX-96

Co-Vale Dempsey Dina from Milksource & Ransom-Rail was recently classified EX-96 by Holstein USA. Dina was Grand Champion in Toronto 2017 and Reserve World Champion 2018. In the meantime, her Archrival daughter Dinas Daeva from Gaspar Fillion in Quebec scored VG-89 (max).

Short notes:

  • IDW’s Holstein Show (Australia) was judged by Adam Liddle.
  • Number of genomic bulls born from ET & IVF in Canada increased to 92%.
  • Swiss Mättenberg Prism Anatevka produced 150,000 kg in 11 lactations.
  • New York (US): $33,000 for AOT Hymn, a Positive-Delta out of Cookiecutter Halo.
  • Passini Netflix (Quantum-Battlecry) debuts with 4252 gPFT in Italian top list.

Focus: Arizona

A remarkable bull is being offered by Aberekin in Spain: Desire Arizona-P-Red. He is an Apoll-Sympatico out of Milksource Devils-Red, a Destry daughter of the EX-94 Budjon-Nitzy Destiny-Red. Arizona combines lots of milk with positive components, and scores 1.85 type, 1.86 udder, 117 longevity, 112 somatic cell and 106 fertility. The Spanish Apoll son is also available as Spermvital.

In 2012, he was the Nr.1 DNA bull of the US. Later, for four successive index releases (April 2015-April 2016), he was the Nr.1 progeny proven bull in the US. In November 2018 he passed the milestone of 1 million doses of semen sold and became the world’s 55th millionaire. Clearly Seagull-Bay Supersire deserves a HI special: appearing in our March issue.
