It may come as a surprise but a lot of our instructors are full time school teachers.

If you have children at home we suspect you are frequently saying to yourselves when will the kids be going back to school?  After home schooling has ended for the day how do you keep them motivated, and active, well.... why not get them training alongside you at one or more of our weekly online classes.  You just might find you have another budding martial artist in the family.  

In our last newsletter we invited members to sign up for forms and fixed sparring tutorials.  To make these accessible to our membership we are incorporating these sessions into the existing online programme.  This means the Meeting id and Passcodes are the same as you have been using to date. Some sessions will be extended with the later part being dedicated to specific forms. The details are set out below.   This format allows you to join the whole class or just drop in to the forms section giving you more flexibility and options; and fewer excuses not to train.  

SUNDAYS 5:30 pm Traditional San Shou Kuan training

Sunday evenings Dave takes you through our traditional class format, similar to what you might expect to do in a socially distanced class. 

From 6.30pm Dave will be running revision sessions of the Senior Grade Forms.  Suitable for those aiming for Black Belt and higher degree grades.  In these, and all our tutorial sessions expect lots of one on one coaching and feedback.

MONDAYS: 7:30 pm Power Shots & Flexibility

Mondays Pete makes you work out with bands and weights (if you don't have these we can work around it) with the aim of making your punches and kicks more powerful and improving your flexibility. 

From 8.30 Pete hands over to Jon Elam who will focus revision and training in forms CC3&4 and CC 5&6.

TUESDAYS: 7:30 pm SSK Fitness

Tuesdays Nic takes our basic traditional movements and puts them on steroids, your basic moves driven to the max in a circuit training style workout; not to be missed!

At 8.30 Nic will be providing one on one tutoring and revision of Lou Harn Chou and CC1&2. 

SATURDAYS: 10:30 am Explosive Kicking

Saturday mornings start tranquilly with Pete's take on yoga, making the most of dynamic stretches;  then breaking down our kicks, before reconstructing them into full-force power shots.

After Pete's Saturday morning class Chris Dodds, together with Ed, will lead the revision of the fixed sparrings .  This is an area where constant practice is essential regardless of grade.  So do join Chris and Ed for revision in those all important fixed sparing

I am sure if you join any of these sessions, and ask nicely, our instructors will help you with any form or fixed sparring.  If you want to cover a particular topic reply to this email and we will point you in the right direction. 

Last thoughts for this month. We are thinking of organising a weekly  'structured' run on Sunday mornings; nothing too early; but another idea to keep us all active. 

How it would work: you find a safe space; bring your phone; log into a call and then we all follow the same simple run programme. Session will last no more than 30 minutes, each going run at their own pace.  Structured running is a great way to build your fitness.  If this appeals reply to this newsletter and if there's enough interest we will start next month.
