Things we have done; doing; and like:

In this newsletter we are relaying all the things we have been up to in 2020 so far and giving you the latest information on events and things that may be coming your way.

Things we have done - SANDA FIGHT NIGHT 8.
Dave's lads Patryk and Artur came away with the trophies at Fight Night 8.  Artur (left) Patryk (right), both teens, with their trophies from Sanda Fight Night at the end of February.  The guys did exceedingly well both winning and picking up trophies in their weight classes.  The Fight Night had competitors from twenty different styles and the level of competition was exceptional.  We are looking forward to seeing them both in action together with our seniors and vets  in July at the British Sanda Championships at Hatfield University.
Details of all events can be found on our website: http://sanshoukuan.com/sskdiary/
Things we need to mention. C19!
Its unfortunate but it is necessary to mention COVID19.   Whilst we would like to keep classes going as much as possible we have to recognise the need to maintain social distancing, the directions of the government and local authorities.  So before you dash off to any class please check with your instructor!
Things to look out for.....
As classes are going to be significantly disrupted we will try and experiment with holding online classes using the App 'Zoom'.  The idea is that we will run online classes at their normal time; they will be shorter;  they are likely to be targeted at certain grades and be on specific subjects rather than a general class.  So be on the look out for invitations hitting your mailboxes and WhatsApp Groups.
Things we are doing...
Following our National Black Belt grading at the beginning of June we will be focusing on the BCCMA National Championships at the end of July.  For six weeks classes with students aiming to compete will make this competition their primary focus.  To supplement this we are aiming to get the National Sanda Coaches to central London to run a training session for our members and guests.  An an organisation we hope that we will have competitors in all the fighting events Qing'da (light contact) and San'da (full contact) from ages 17 to 50; male and female.  These are great events to be involved with whether a competitor, an official, a coach, a training partner, or just a supporter.  Lets all make this tournament an SSK show!
Things we have liked....
This may not be to everyone's taste but on our various WhatsApp Groups this one fight has had all us wannabe commentators sharing our thoughts and opinions.  If you are not squeamish do have a look at two awesome women battling it out for the UFC Straw Weight World Title.

What we follow.
Or to be more precise here's a short list of the strange things that Pete follows:
  • sanda.china - you can see what China's National coaches are putting their full time athletes through.
  • cungle185 - just because it features Cung Le.  Retired he might be but he put sanshou on the MMA & UFC map.
  • Saenchaithailand - not only has he been one of the best Thai boxers of all time, he runs one of the best Thai boxing camps.
  • Topicfight - A student of the Saenchai camp, this Russian Thai boxer now living in the US, training in Thailand, trains with a ferocity that has to be admired.
  • svetlana_andreeva_coach - a Russian Lady who is an innovative and fun boxing coach; although no one knows what she's saying!
People we have to thank
San Shou Kuan only existing because of its members and friends. Special thanks in this Edition goes to Paul Jacobs and Adam Hawkins for their help at the Sanda Fight Night.  Much appreciated gents - thank you both.
