Fellow 'Canes,

Each day at the University of Miami we have an opportunity to make an impact on the lives of students, patients, colleagues, and the community.

Great institutions inspire people to strive for excellence. Excellence is achieved through great cultures. Our culture at the University is defined by our Common Purpose: At the U, we transform lives through teaching, research, and service. We can all rally behind this Common Purpose and bring it to life through DIRECCT, the set of values and behaviors we have embraced. Once we truly understand and begin to demonstrate these behaviors, we will experience an increasingly positive change in our workplace.

We are making real and significant progress based on important feedback you shared over the last several months. Groups with representatives from across the University are already working to create a service-centered culture through the establishment of expected leadership traits and behaviors; guidelines that will advance the way we care for and recognize each other; and principles that will inform the way we select, welcome, train, and care for our faculty and staff.

As we continue Building a Better U Together, we want to hear from you! If you have any questions, please send us an email at UMCulture@miami.edu.

Thank you for being part of this incredible journey.
