Upcoming Classical and Jazz Concerts
Trio con Brio takes the parlour by storm on August 11th with an uplifting and eclectic program featuring the unique voices of the three reed instruments of the orchestra.  VSO players Beth Orson, oboe; Nicola Everton, clarinet, and Julia Lockhart, bassoon will play reed trios by Mozart, Ibert, Ippolitov-Ivanov, Bill Douglas, and more.

The classical concert is on August 11th at 4pm. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for students, seniors and members. Show begins at 4 pm. Please arrive 15-20 minutes in advance for seat selection.

*These concert series would not be possible without the generous support of the McGrane-Pearson Endowment Fund and several private donors.*
Our Summer Jazz on the Porch series continues! The Winston Matsushita Trio will play on August 8th.

Summer jazz concerts take place outdoors and are pay-what-you-wish. The concert will begin at 7pm, and you are welcome to bring your own chairs or use the chairs provided.

Our VIP seats are already sold out for this event, but there will be chairs available for the pay-what-you-wish seats. The Summer Jazz on the Porch Series is made possible thanks to a grant from the City of Vancouver, Cultural Services.

Welcome, Sara!

Hello Everyone!
I’m Sara Hepper, the new manager here at Roedde House Museum. As a history lover with a penchant for the Victorian period, I couldn’t be more thrilled at this opportunity! Having a decade of managerial experience at a local vintage clothing store, I’ve happily indulged and specialized in researching and restoring antique clothing while completing a BA in History and Art History at UBC. I began volunteering with Ivan Sayers and the Society for the Museum of Original Costume by participating in historical fashion show lectures. Soon afterwards I began volunteering at Vancouver’s oldest building, The Old Hastings Mill Store Museum, where I gained experience in museum operations while balancing a new foray into archival studies through the Archives Association of British Columbia.
I’ve been enthralled with museums since childhood, so when I began reading Janet Bingham’s story of Roedde House I was immediately able to relate to the boy she described trying to open one of the false doors leading to a Victorian parlour. I had done the same as a child and could therefore all the more appreciate the inspiration behind creating a house museum that welcomed interaction! With great admiration for Roedde’s unique hands-on approach I was eager to host my wedding reception here almost two years ago (in an authentic Victorian wedding dress to boot). I am looking forward to continuing to create more memories here and to meeting you fellow history lovers and museum supporters along the way!
