February 2020

Early 19th Century three-dimensional Valentine card from the collection of Leonard Mccann the former curator of the Vancouver Maritime Museum.

Dear Friends of Roedde House,

Happy Saint Valentines Day! In honour of the holiday we have staged a temporary “Roedde Romance” exhibit in one of the cases in our upstairs Exhibitions Room. This display showcases German-made Victorian Valentines alongside stories and photographs of the Roedde family’s memorable courtships and marriages.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 15th at 3:30pm, and take part in a special and free Family Day Weekend event! Learn Old-fashioned writing skills with quills, slate, pen and ink, and then create your very own Victorian Valentine!

Detailed below are our Jazz and Classical concerts.

Hope to see you at the museum soon!

Sincerely,
Sara and Sheila

In Memory of Joanne Cram

August 27, 1943 - September 5th, 2019

Dedicated long-term volunteer and past RHM board member Joanne Cram has passed away at the age of 76. Joanne became involved with Roedde House Museum through her work with the Community Arts Council in the early 1980’s. She was an incredibly active board member serving on the Roedde House Preservation Society from 1984 to 2010. Joanne served as a special adviser of communications and public relations for the museum, and wrote the monthly newsletter from 2010-16. She is also remembered for her notable work with Arts in Education. Joanne was often described as "truly generous" and was noted for her love of reading and her sharp sense of humour. Joanne will be fondly remembered at Roedde House Museum.
*Joanne is shown pictured alongside Leonard McCann (another founding member of the RHM Preservation Society).
