Lighthouse Festival, WVSD's showcase of creative and performing arts, is well underway, with performances by Pauline Johnson, Ridgeview and our secondary schools yesterday, and a whole lot more to come. Check out the schedule on our website to take in a performance this week.

Splashy launch kicks off SD45One exhibition

More than 800 people attended the opening reception for SD45One at the West Vancouver Museum April 9, organized by West Vancouver Secondary art educator Jackie Wong. The exhibition of students past and present runs until May 31, with waterfront container art at Ambleside and John Lawson Park in early May.

Alumni artists include: Douglas Coupland, Graham Gilmore, Ross Penhall, Ian Wallace, Geoffrey Farmer, Cori Creed, Victor Penner, Xwalacktun, Bobbie Burgers, Ken Wallace, Monique Mees, Tony Pantages and Vincent Massey among others.

District Summer Learning Registration starts May 1
Last month, Learning Curve featured Summer Enrichment programs, offered by community agencies through the district to deliver high quality programming during the summer break. This month, we're announcing the schedule for the district's Summer Learning programs. Summer learning programs are taught by district staff to students in entering grades 4 and up. Generally more academic and preparatory in nature, these courses fill up quickly. Registration opens May 1.

Parent education night
The District Parent Advisory Council, supported by the West Vancouver School District presents Dr. Leonard Sax on May 13 at the Kay Meek Theatre. Dr. Sax's presentation What's going on with our boys and girls will explore share evidence-based research and offer practical advice to improve academic achievement and emotional resilience.
