Light a spark this fall

Passionate people are inspired by what they're learning. The West Vancouver School District is pleased to announce two new "Ignite Your Passion" courses for students in Grades 6 and 7 this fall. Registration has been re-opened to offer these opportunities to a few additional students.

Courses have been selected to help students make an easier transition to high school in an area of special interest with a natural continuation at the high school level. Each course runs before or after school for credit, and is taught by qualified high school instructors. Courses offered this fall include fencing and entrepreneurship. Registration open until October 17.

The Properties Family Hub Society (PFHS) will offer multi-generational, flexible community health and education programs for families, seniors, singles and children residing in and near the British Properties.

Self-Regulation

Together with the Canadian Self-Regulation Initiative, the WVSD hosted a conference in August, bringing together parents, educators and community health professionals to share information about the tools, techniques and science behind this important program. Among its many benefits for student success, Self-Regulation also has important implications for better mental health outcomes and responsible decision-making, as students learn to respond to stress in healthier ways. The district will continue to work with the other BC First Wave districts to deepen understanding of this approach within our respective communities.
