Teacher raises money for International Day of the Girl
Rockridge teacher Stephanie Jansen dreams big: late last year, she saw a film that she loved so much, she couldn't wait to raise awareness about International Day of the Girl, which happens to be today, October 11. After months of planning, her dream became reality when Girl Rising screened at Kay Meek Theatre October 9 to a sold out audience. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Room to Read, a charity that supports global education.

Chartwell school, one of only 8 UN-Rights respecting schools in Canada, also raised money to support the UN campaign, and held events all week to support and celebrate the rights of girls. Read more on Stephanie's page or visit the Chartwell School Principal's blog.
