Pine Needle Baskets
Instructor: Kathleen Thacker
Sept 7th, 10 - 4
Cost $75 for members, $85 for nonmembers. $15 for supplies.
Class size limited to 5 (but see below).
Please bring a bag lunch; we’ll take a break mid-day.
Start with a bundle of pine needles and leave with a small coiled basket. You learn how to start with a base....a small piece of wood or a nut slice. You coil and “sew” together the coils to build up a basket. Lots of fun to watch it take shape. No prior skills needed. All materials and supplies are provided and included in the $15 supply fee.
The class will be limited to 5. However, we will take a waiting list. A fellow pine needle maker is trying to be available to help give individual help. If so, we will be able to increase class size.
Kathleen Thacker, our teacher, has been coiling for over five years. She has taken individual classes, week long workshops and attends a basket making group weekly when she is available, etc. She has gathered materials from all over the world and while she likes simplicity in her designs, each basket is distinctive. She displays at the gallery and enjoys selling her finished products.
