There I was in our Anchorage shop parking lot yesterday, herding gravel with a water hose and reflecting on all the sweeping, bike washing, oil changes, and email answers I have done over the years at MotoQuest.

I realized that most of the staff came into this business as bike washers, and now they are instrumental in running the company, at times, from the far side of the globe. Indeed, working at MotoQuest never promised anyone they would get rich, but our core staff all love the work because they are passionate about what we do.

As spring rears its sleepy head here in Alaska, you can now see the snow menting, the migrating birds arriving, and the leaves sprouting from the trees. The temperature is starting to climb, and the sun will not go down until August.

Our Alaska season is upon us. For 12 short weeks, we will be the busiest motorcycle rental company this far north in the world. Now that we are ramping up, we are looking for those interested in working with us up here in Alaska. We are looking for Bike Washers, Rental Agents and Motorcycle Techs. We yearn to attract those that are passionate about learning more about the motorcycle industry, that are not afraid of real work, and can bring a sense of humor and excitement to our core family up here.

Might you be a person who could use an adventurous summer? Might you need a change for a season? Perhaps you know of someone who would like this kind of opportunity. If so, please fill out the below form - we are hiring our staff in the next two weeks and we know that if you are a right fit, you might just love what you do. I know we do!

I WANT A SUMMER OF FUN-EMPLOYMENT

Appreciation for hibachi grill dining is mandatory.
Fun haters need not apply.

What does it take to be a guide?

That link above was the gateway to guiding, and you blew right past it. Riding experience, people skills, and fluency in multiple languages are great starting points, but that doesn’t mean any random enthusiast is ready to represent this global brand. Before we put anyone on the road with our paying guests, we want a chance to get to know you and your work ethic.

Know how we do that? It involves a pressure washer and some scrub brushes. Get your galoshes, it’s gonna get messy!

Some of our best guides started off washing bikes, answering phones, and turning wrenches. Once a staff member has proven that they are the right kind of fun-loving, hard working, integrity filled oddball and the opportunity presents itself, we offer the chance to drive a support truck on a guided tour. Those that handle the challenges that come with picking up the rear with grace and style might find themselves guiding a tour somewhere down the line.

If you still want to guide tours for MotoQuest, consider putting in a summer of hard work at our shop in Alaska. Your wallet won’t be exploding with cash, but you’ll always end the day with a smile.
