HSJ Partnership Awards partnership programme shortlisted

Change Please Foundation / Driving for Change, a programme partnered with ELFT and the North East London Health & Care Partnership (NELHCP), has been shortlisted in the Primary Care Project of the Year of the HSJ Partnership Awards 2023.

Driving for Change, which uses refurbished London buses to provide an all-in-one direct intervention service for people experiencing homelessness in London, is being recognised for its ground-breaking initiative in Hackney which offers mobile, informal, welcoming and open access for some of the most vulnerable members of society.
“I am incredibly proud to see recognition by the HSJ for a partnership programme making a fundamental difference to the communities we serve,” said Dr Mohit Venkataram, the Trust’s Director of Commercial Development. “Driving for Change is the first of its kind and a tremendously exciting model that is giving people experiencing homelessness pathways to potentially life-saving key services and centralised support.”

The HSJ Partnership Awards celebrate the crucial contributions of the private and third sector in strengthening the UK’s healthcare system. The awards will be held on Thursday 23 March 2023 at Evolution London.

Homerton fertility service update

Earlier this year, Homerton Hospital had to pause some of its fertility services due to severe staffing shortages. Over the next several months, Homerton will be restarting some of the services that were paused; namely fresh and frozen embryo transfer.

Initially, Homerton will be treating a small number of patients, gradually increasing numbers between now and spring to ensure a stable return to a full service. Patients will be clinically prioritised by the medical team.

Please do not contact Homerton to enquire about appointment statuses.  The fertility centre will contact each patient when the time comes.  During the period when some of Homerton's services were paused, most of the affected patients were transferred to neighbouring NHS Trust fertility centres. These patients will continue their treatments there.

Please see additional information at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundaton Trust Fertility Centre.

Made In Hackney cooking school in Upper Clapton

Made In Hackney is a charity and community cooking school based in Upper Clapton. It will run enjoyable and relaxed cooking sessions using healthy, plant-based ingredients. Their classes are aimed to improve not only health and wellbeing, but also to support people during the cost of living crisis.

At in person classes, participants eat a full meal at the class, all ingredients are supplied and often there are leftovers or surplus fruit and veg to take home. For online classes, there is the option to collect vegetable ingredients and some extras from the cookery school. Made In Hackney teaches participants how to make tasty budget recipes, how to cook using less energy and how to source cheaper ingredients.
Healthwatch City of London, along with MIND, the Samaritans and City of London Corporation will talk through how one can get help over the holiday period or just have a chat.

Join the Zoom meeting on Thursday 15 December 2022, 5-6pm.
