Polio Vaccination Campaign

Please find resources (letter and guidance) in support of the polio vaccination campaign for 1-9 year olds in London.

The guidance document is intended to support practices and addresses three key areas: payment, collaboration and documents.

In addition, please see the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) statement and polio campaign resources for healthcare professionals.

What’s going on at Hackney GP surgeries

There are nearly 40 GP surgeries in Hackney. A newsletter has been created by Volunteer Hackney‘s Together Better team that will be released monthly to provide highlights of what has been ongoing in various surgeries in the borough. The first edition – August 2022 – was recently released.
 

NEL Safeguarding Local Incentive Scheme 2021-2023 

Following on from emails confirming the start of the NEL Safeguarding GP LIS from February 2022, the LIS has been updated to reflect the changes in our organisation and also the online sign-up link which closed at the end of March 2022. 
  
If you have not yet signed up to this LIS, there is a manual sign-up form which you can complete and return to nelondon.nel-primarycare@nhs.net. Find all the NEL Safeguarding GP LIS updated specification and quarterly claim form here.

Practices can sign up to this LIS at any point up to March 2023. However, to be able to claim for any backdated reports (going back to February 2022 when the LIS started), the sign-up form must be received by Wednesday, 31 August 2022

Medical Supply Notification for two products

Please find Medicine Supply Notifications for:

DHSC and NHSE have now launched an online Medicines Supply Tool, which provides up-to-date information about medicine supply issues. The contents of these MSNs can now be viewed on the Tool.
 
The Tool also details any changes to resupply dates and updates to the entries. To access the Tool, please register with the SPS website.

Serious Shortage Protocol – fluoxetine 10mg tablets and atorvastatin 10mg tablets

Please note the Serious Shortage Protocols currently in effect for fluoxetine 10mg tablets (SSP05) and atorvastatin 10mg chewable tablets (SSP032), which are being varied to extend the end dates, which were previously Friday, 12 August 2022.
 
The end date for SSP05 will now be Wednesday, 7 December 2022. The end date for SSP032 will now be Friday, 26 August 2022.

First 4 Health eHub Show & Tell - Tuesday, 23 August 2022

A Show & Tell webinar on the eHub model set up by First4Health in North East London, will take place on Tuesday 23 August 2022, 11am-12pm. 
 
The eHub also introduced the role of Digital Care Navigator, which has been integral to the successful functioning of the eHub.  The webinar will discuss how the leads of the hub handle approximately 2,000 online consultations a month, reduce waiting times for patients, increased staff morale and GP retention rates and boosted patient experiences.

Telephony Webinar for Primary Care starting September 2022

North East London have been working with Redmoor Health on an Advanced Telephony programme.  As a result of the recent telephony questionnaire that was conducted, webinars have been organised on the topic: ‘What is advanced telephony and how can it benefit my patients and practice.' This webinar will help increase awareness and knowledge of advanced telephony.

NHS PCN Workforce Planning Submission Form

As part of the 2022/23 Network contract DES section 7. PCNs must complete a workforce planning return to signal their planning intentions for 2022/23 by 31 August 2022 and indicative intentions for 2023/24 by 31 October 2022 for roles included in the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS). Please see the new form and read below for assistance on how to submit.

SUBMISSION GUIDANCE

Urgent Care Plan - Care Homes & Primary Care

The Urgent Care Plan (UCP_ application that integrates with multiple Electronic Patient Records has now been deployed.  

The CMC, which was accessed by care homes, has been replaced by the UCP and the new system has gone live.  Read more.
 
Coordinate My Care, used by primary care, has now been replaced by the UCP. To enable your practice to access it, you need to be party to an agreement between yourselves and the system supplier.  Find out more.

GP Patient Survey Results

The national GP Patient Survey Results have now been published and this will enable your PCN to start working towards the IIF ACC – 05 Indicator, as outlined below: 
 
ACC-05: By 31 March 2023, make use of GP Patient Survey results for practices in the PCN to (i) identify patient groups experiencing inequalities in their experience of access to general practice, and (ii) develop, publish and implement a plan to improve patient experience and access for these patient groups, taking into account demographic information including levels of deprivation.

August Bank Holiday Pharmacy Opening Hours

Please find the published list of pharmacies opening as part of the commissioned rota for 29 August 2022 Bank Holiday. 
 
It is important to note that Saturday 27 August 2022 is not a bank holiday; however, there will be some pharmacies who normally open who will be closed on this day.

To check which pharmacies may be open outside of the published rota on Monday 29 August 2022, please refer to the NHS Find a Pharmacy website. This information will also mirror the information held by NHS 111.

Health Fair on Saturday, 17 September 2022

The Shoreditch Park and City Primary Care Network (PCN) will be hosting its first ever PCN Health Fair at De Beauvior Surgery, 30 Hertford Road, N1 5QT, on Saturday, 17 September 2022, from 11am to 3pm.

The aim of the event is to increase patient and family, healthcare professional and community organisation engagement to support and empower patients and their families to live, eat and stay healthy. The flyer and invitation can be shared.

A number of community-based organisations will form part of this exciting event to offer and provide, helpful information, leaflets, resources and activities, to support our patients and their families on their journey to increased health and wellbeing.  Please do come out and support.

Health professionals, leaders and interested partners working with and from the Jewish community are invited to join an online workshop on Thursday, 15 September 2022, 12.30-2pm to explore and discuss how we work together to improve immunisation uptake both in the Charedi as
well as in the wider Jewish Communities across London.

Poverty reduction tools for residents who are struggling

On Thursday, 11 August 2022, a meeting was held entitled "Poverty reduction: tools for work with residents who are struggling." Please see resources that can be used to aid in this matter.

Health Network - London Sport & Active London Conference

The latest issue of London Sport is full of news, insight, research, events and opportunities for the physical activity and sport sector in London.

In addition, view the Active Hospitals newsletter that includes information on the 'Active London' conference on Wednesday, 21 September 2022. The focus is on 'places and spaces' and tickets have just gone on sale.

This video clip, promoting physical activity by encouraging patients and staff to move more and sit less, features ways to get active throughout the life course.
