Think Before You Click!

With more staff working from home it is more important than ever to remain vigilant and avoid email phishing scams, some of which look very legitimate.

Here are a few tips on avoiding phishing scams that may include malware or harmful links.

1. Think before you click. If something doesn’t seem right about an email, just delete it—ideally before you open it. You’re better off not taking the risk.
2. Examine the email address. Before you open the email, hover your mouse over it, or check the details of the address. It may look like it's from someone you know, but the details may reveal it is from another unknown email address.
3. Examine any email links. Before you click on a link, try hovering your mouse over it. This will reveal the full address, which can expose signs of fraud. A “.ru” on the end, for example, means the site was created in Russia; “.br” means Brazil. Also watch for misspellings in the URL. They are misleading and the link could be harmful.

Remember, take care in your personal AND your digital life!
