CFS 46: Accelerating progress on SDG2 to achieve all the SDGs

CFS 46 is from 14 – 18 October 2019 at FAO, Rome, Italy and will be the first major global meeting on food security and nutrition after the High Level Political Forum SDG Summit in New York in September 2019. The SDGs will be the theme of the week with a particular focus on ways to accelerate SDG 2 – zero hunger. 2019 also marks ten years since the CFS Reform in 2009 and 45 years since the founding of the Committee in 1974. The draft Provisional Agenda and Timetable are on the CFS 46 web page.

The new CFS Secretary

Please welcome Chris Hegadorn who on March 18 took up the post of CFS Secretary. Chris comes to CFS with nearly thirty years of government service, including food security and nutrition policy expertise. Having started his career at the US Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service, and having served in Rome as an Alternate Permanent Representative to the UN agencies, Chris is well placed to lead the CFS Secretariat in the most efficient and productive manner possible. Chris looks forward to working with all stakeholders – including you – to fulfill the mandate of CFS.
