Falkland House School is a residential school for boys of all ages who have Additional Support Needs and who find it difficult to cope in a mainstream educational environment. We offer day, 39 and 52 week provision.
Putting learning into practice on an overnight expedition

The boys from Albany went on an overnight expedition recently. After lining their backpacks with waterproof sacks, they were ready to brave the elements and headed off to Dunkeld with Mr Graham and Mr Morrison.
At their destination, they walked about three kilometres until they found the best place to pitch their tents, by Loch Ordy.
The boys have been studying river features in Geography, and this was a great spot for them to witness first hand the environments they're learning about in the classroom.

Reducing the autism employment gap

Falkland House School has added its voice to the National Autistic Society's campaign calling on the government to double the number of autistic people in work. In this letter published in The Independent, FHS Director Stuart Jacob recommends they start by providing employers with the resources and training they need for a better understanding of the condition.

The catering team at Falkland House School does a great job preparing healthy meals for our pupils every day. Thanks to their efforts, the school has been reaccredited with a 'Healthy Living' Award.
Raising funds for two very important causes

Everyone did a fantastic job turning Falkland House School pink again on November 16th.
The event to raise funds for breast cancer research included the extremely popular tombola, hoopla, rolling a penny, a book stall and much more.
All the boys helped on the day, making cakes for the baking stall, lending a hand on the stalls or helping to decorate the hall and set everything up.
Well done to everyone for making it a great success and many thanks to all who donated and helped raise funds for this very important cause.

In September FHS pupils and staff signed up for the Aspire Channel Swim Challenge to swim the distance of the channel (22 miles) over 12 weeks! They now have less than a mile to go! Aspire helps people with spinal cord injury. Deadline for donations is December 5th

Music exam success

At the beginning of November the senior pupils took their National 4 practical music assessment. This involved them developing, practising and completing an 8-minute performance under exam conditions.
The boys played a variety of instruments, including the flugel horn, guitar, xylophone, drum kit and voice. They performed exceptionally well and all passed the exam!

'Our Bright Future' programme

Dylan, Aaron and Ben are taking part in the lottery-funded 'Our Bright Future' programme at the Centre for Stewardship, Falkland Estate. The project is designed to enable young people in Fife to gain new skills that they can use to make a real difference to their community and local environment.
With the collaboration of Fife Rural Skills Partnership, the programme offers young people a variety of pathways to prepare for the working world.
The boys have received glowing reports for the work they've been doing there.

FHS pupil Dylan is in the junior cast of Mother McGoose at the Alhambra Theatre in Dunfermline. He had such a great time doing panto last year that he's looking forward to doing it all over again!
His classmates will be going to see him in the pantomime on December 15th.

Our Christmas Lunch will be held on December 22nd.
