Arbitrator orders City to produce discovery materials

City continues push to impose “uniform pattern” on PBA

As the May 7 start date for the PBA’s PERB arbitration hearings approaches, the union has obtained an order from the neutral arbitrator, Howard Edelman, compelling the City to produce certain documents and information that the PBA believes will be vital in preparing its case. At the same time, the City has continued its efforts to have the arbitration panel impose an award matching the terms of its previous settlements with other police and uniformed groups.


PERB pre-hearing briefs present outline of PBA, City cases

The PBA and the City have submitted detailed pre-hearing briefs summarizing the arguments and evidence that each party will present throughout the upcoming arbitration hearings. The PBA Beat offers a basic outline of both parties’ cases.


Tipping the scales: the latest PBA newspaper ad, which appeared on April 22, highlights the City’s positive budget picture and argues that now is the time for the City to end decades of labor discord by paying police officers a competitive wage.
