OPEN WALL OPEN HOUSE • SUNDAY 9/22 from 12-3PM
Rain or Shine!

SEE YOU THIS SUNDAY

At our Open Wall Open House in Farmington. You will see and learn how we design and build homes that generate as much energy as they use.

We hope you can make the time to visit another unique Net Zero Home this Sunday afternoon. Last year Wolfworks designed and built the home that won the 2012 CT Net Zero Challenge.  We're back this year with a new home in Farmington that will produce more energy than it uses on an annual basis! We call this a Net Zero Home. This is a special chance to see how we apply Passive House design principles to achieve this remarkable performance. Come inside and take a look around before we close up the walls. See and experience the difference.

WHAT YOU'LL SEE
• Inswinging European windows that gain more energy than they lose and close as tight as a car door
• How we build thick walls that hold heat like a thermos
• Air sealing techniques that we measure and test with a fog machine
• A ventilation system that provides constant fresh air and captures the heat as the air changes
• Simple heating and cooling equipment that uses less energy than a couple blow dryers
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
• What a home's "energy balance" is and how this awareness invites us to build a smarter building
• How we experience comfort and can create conditions to provide it consistently
• How all the pieces work together to create exceptional comfort, durability, health, and stability
• Ways to make a simple building architecturally interesting
• How the Passive House method makes all this possible
WHO YOU'LL MEET
• Jamie Wolf (designer) and Janet Downey (construction manager) from Wolfworks
• Peter Harding, HERS rater from Home Energy Technologies
• Chris Lenda, from Aegis Solar
• Violette Vadomski, Energize CT and Energy Star for Homes
• Trade Professionals specializing in insulation, mechanical systems, and other technologies
• Folks like you who are interested in learning more about Net Zero Homes
PRESENTATIONS AT 12:30 & 2PM ABOUT:

TOURS OF THE HOME BETWEEN PRESENTATIONS
Our current projects are remarkable. Not only will they look great, work well, and feel good to be in, they use dramatically less energy. They will also be significantly more comfortable, durable, healthy, and safe. This is our goal. We come to work each day to create homes that will be "future friendly".

We do this by design. Design is our practice. And good design means thinking through and making smart choices about what matters. Function matters. Graceful and inviting spaces matter. And how our homes perform matters, not just to us, but to the world of which each home is a part.
