Psychological therapies waiting lists - Mid & South Powys
Jane Cooke, of our mental health team, has been working with colleagues in Psychology Services and Public Health Wales to look at the long waiting lists for "talking therapies" in Mid and South Powys. An event was held in Llandrindod Wells on 3 February to address some of the issues raised. You can read more about what happened on the day here.

Auditing of Care & Treatment planning in Aneurin Bevan Health Board

In January Freda Lacey attended a meeting with staff from the Aneurin Bevan Health Board to discuss involving people (individual reps/volunteers) in the "auditing" process, looking specifically at the quality of care and treatment plans.  The staff involved are managers in charge of the auditing process in Gwent and for people in Mid and South Powys (who fall under ABHB services).

The team is also arranging a Powys wide "Forum" meeting, together with individuals in contact with mental health services and those close to them, to take place in early March (date and details to be confirmed). There will be a short information session on the auditing process to gather further feedback. Once finalised, the new auditing process will be piloted in an area of Gwent (or Powys) to see if it works and if it does, then this will be proposed/adopted across Wales.

For further information about the activities of Patients' Council, please contact Freda Lacey, tel: 01597 822191, or email

Do you receive support for your mental health difficulties through your GP?
Over the next year we would like to collect information about people’s experiences so that we can feed this into the annual review of the Mental Health Measure – Part One. This sets out a range of standards relating to receiving assessments, referrals and options through your GP.
If you would like to be involved with this, have something to say or would like to be part of shaping how we do this, please get in touch. Contact Freda Lacey  on 01597 822191,
