About Pop-Up Hanami
What's a hanami and how does it pop up??

This year, the exec team has decided to improve and expand on the Coscafe formula, and create a more complete event experience!
A Hanami (花見) or "flower viewing" is a traditional Japanese custom of enjoying the finite beauty of flowers (花, hana). Specifically, sakura blossoms, which bloom around March and fall in April! UBC's sakura trees will be in full bloom during this event, and we were inspired by how beautiful they look.
We hope that this event can emulate the casual enjoyment of Hanami, and offer something that everyone can enjoy!
Of course, this wouldn't be an Anime Club event without... Anime, so we're going to pull out all the stops this year. Think of this event as Coscafe+ with all the Cosplay and Cafe you can handle, and more!
Pop up Hanami will take place on March 18th in the UBC Nest's Great Hall, and will go from 1 PM to late!

Sakura Cosplay Cafe

Imagine a cafe with some of the best baked goods in Vancouver. Pretty sweet right? Now imagine your favorite fictional characters are the ones serving you the food!
We couldn't not bring back the Cosplay Cafe this year, and as the main attraction of the event, it'll be better than ever!
We plan to lean more into the "cafe" side of things this year, and will have a variety of confections and baked goods straight from some of the tastiest bakeries and dessert shops in Vancouver. We'll also have coffee, tea, and some specialty drinks!
As for the servers, we have a TON of amazing volunteer cosplayers this year, and all of them are incredibly talented and experienced.
Performances!
During the cafe, we'll also be giving the stage to a bunch of awesome performers! There will be DJ sets, Idol groups, and non-stop J-pop, J-rock and anime music for you to enjoy while chilling at the cafe!

Artist Alley
An alley full of artists!

One of the new additions to our event is the Artist Alley! Our club is home to a massive community of amazing artists, and we want to let them show off their work and talent!
We'll have around 30 artist tables and other vendors, including a bunch of our sponsors! All of the artists have been working hard to create, print, and sell their work, and there will definitely be something there for anyone who's into anime.
Nothing feels better than finally snagging some awesome merch of a character or series you love, and there's no better place to look than our artist alley!

Games and Prizes

Much like our previous big events, there will be a bunch of games to play where you can win tickets to put towards a variety of raffle prizes!
Since this is our largest event this year, our prize pool will be bigger than ever, and chock full of sweet goodies from our sponsors and stuff picked out by the exec team!
This time though, all attendees will be given a Hanami scavenger hunt card, where every stamp = a ticket! The scavenger hunt will take you all around the event, and result in a higher chance to score one of our prizes!

This is the largest event UBC Ani has ever run, so we need as many volunteers as we can get!
If you're free on March 18th and want to help out with the event, or weren't selected for some of the other, more specific volunteer positions, this is for you!
