Fall is in full swing here in our small town. The leaves are finally changing and the apples and mountain air are crisp! Halloween is upon us, where in Floyd, all the children who live outside town limits, descend on the small neighborhoods in town. It is a sight to see the thousands of little ones in their creative costumes causing traffic and everyday life to stop. It's also the first of holidays to come where we take time to get together with family and friends with the hopes of eating well and enjoying each other's company. Come gather with us, we would love to have you!
Pies and Sides are available for pickup and pre-order! Make all of your gatherings a breeze and pick up delicious, homemade sides and desserts from the Floyd Country Store. This year we are adding a few extra options, like Turkey Pot Pie, Cheesecakes from local baker Gypsy Girl, and Sweet Potato Pie (made from scratch with locally-grown sweet potatoes)! Pre-order in the store, by phone or online (starting Nov.1). Pies and Sides will be available for all your gatherings through the end of the year.

Finally: a Master Artist in traditional singing for the Virginia Folklife Program, Linda Lay has performed with singers across several genres of music, from country's Vern Gosdin and Carl Jackson to Piedmont blues singer John Cephas. She spent her early years with Janette Carter at the Carter Family Fold near Bristol, Virginia.
