The Scramble
The Scramble happens most Friday Nights at the store. There is a call for a children’s dance—a maximum age is specified—and everyone else clears the floor to let the youngsters spread their wings. It’s a local tradition to throw coins to young children at the end of a dance, and the audience at the store always takes delight in seeing the young ones scramble for the nickels and dimes on the dance floor. Soon after this you’ll find a crowd around the candy barrels!

Pure Prine
On Saturday March 29 at 7:30 pm, we are excited to present an evening of the songs of John Prine, coordinated by host band Souvenirs (David Cannaday, Dave Fason, Rob Neukirch and Randy May) with several other fine guest musicians. John Prine is one of the most influential songwriters of his generation, known for his often humorous lyrics about love, life, current events, and some serious social commentary. His work could be described as classic Americana and has been widely recorded and performed by himself and others. The show will feature some of his best-known songs along with some less familiar pieces. Tickets are on sale at the store and online for $10. More info | Buy Tickets

The Easter Bunny
The Easter Bunny has moved up to the front of the store and he’s ready for spring and Easter to arrive. Our Jingle Tap Café is featuring some spring salads, with local organic spinach and claytonia. The butternut squash and beets from the farm stored beautifully, so you will see these featured on our menu along with new seasonal items like spinach and coconut soup. We remember the wonderful coconut cake that was served at Easter events, and you can find that at the store too.

More Dancing
We have several dancing demonstrations coming up at the store. This Friday, March 21, will be a chance to see the Old Dominion Cloggers in action. They will take to the floor to show off their steps during The Tune Town Old String Band set at 9:00pm. The Cloggers usually arrive in full regalia and give a couple of demonstrations during the evening. There will be plenty of time for all the other dancers—so bring your dance shoes and have some fun.
