Last Call to Artists!

Deadline June 5
New London, CT

The Artist WithIN is an annual exhibit celebrating the work of artists identifying as something other than 100% heterosexual. In an effort to promote equality for all gender identities and sexual orientations this event brings positive awareness to the LGBTQ community. It also raises funds for OutCT's upcoming Pride Festival at Ocean Beach Park in New London, CT.

The subject matter of the artwork does not need to portray LGBTQ issues or lifestyle. All formats accepted. This year's exhibit will be held at the Lyman Allyn Art Museum! Visit OutCT.org/art-exhibit/ for details before June 5th.

See the event on Facebook.

Masquerade Ball at
Lyman Allyn Art Museum

New London, CT
June 11
6-9pm

Dress for success and vote for your favorite work of art at the Masquerade Ball! The Ball celebrates Pride month and is the opening reception for The Artist WithIN. Dance to the sounds of DJ Gadget as you whirl about in your finest costume creations.  Refreshments will be on hand to refuel you.

Masks and extravagant hair pieces are a great way to play up a simpler outfit, but feel free to push the boundaries. We will vote for favorite costume and favorite work of art that evening. Favorite Costume wins free entry to our Pride Festival, Pride Downtown and on the Sound. Visit OutCT.org for details.

See the event on Facebook.

Buy Tickets for the Ball!

Masquerade Ball tickets must be purchased before June 11.
They will not be available for sale at the door.

Sneak Peek

While working on my costume for the Masquerade Ball I created a new technique for working with fabric and encaustic. The following photo is a glimpse into the beginnings of the next work in the Migration Series

The process involves coating fabric with encaustic, cutting it into strips, squares and finally triangles in many sizes, then individually fusing the pieces onto the panel. Over 40 hours have been invested into this latest work so far. Want to see the process? This time lapse video captures 3 hours of studio time.

Age Old, encaustic and cotton on birch panel, 18 x 21 x 5

Last August the Courtyard Gallery invited me to join their stable of artists in beautiful downtown Mystic, CT. Since then I have sold award-winning art at their gallery and met many other wonderful artists. If you're taking a trip to Southeastern Connecticut this summer, be sure to find this hidden treasure at 12 Water Street. It's tucked into a courtyard behind Voodoo Grill.

Join us at the Gallery every Sunday from 3-6pm for our weekly salons!

See you at the Ball, Art Lovers! So many great things going on in June and I hope you will be a part of it. Enjoy the weather and Art On!

~Amy
