[Flushing, NY] The Korean American Family Service Center (KAFSC) was awarded an increased pledge of $500,000 from the Dow Kim Family Foundation ahead of KAFSC's 32nd Anniversary Gala on Wednesday, February 10,2021. The increase adds to a $350,000 multi-year grant that was awarded in 2018 and will complete the total giving to $500,000. 

"KAFSC is honored to recognize Dow Kim as this year's Vision-In-Action Award Honoree at our 32nd Anniversary Gala. This recognition is in acknowledgment of Mr. Kim's commitment to taking active steps to ensure the Korean American community is cared for, supported, and thriving," said Executive Director, Jeehae Fischer. "This unexpected honor is truly humbling. It is a validation of the hard work and dedication of KAFSC'S frontline staff who bravely responded to an alarming rise in domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse incidents in our community over the past year."

The Dow Kim Family Foundation is engaged in philanthropic activities for the sole purpose of helping to better and empower the lives of Korean Americans in areas of education, social services, and arts & culture. "The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the inequity and precariousness Korean American immigrant survivors and their children faced. The Dow Kim Family Foundation understands the challenges these individuals and families face as they journey on a path towards economic independence and free from violence. We know that the road to recovery for these survivors will be longer and harder and it is the least we can do to ensure KAFSC is equipped to respond appropriately. '' said Dow Kim, President and Founder.
