December's Literacy News

The Tri-Cities Literacy Committee worked hard to deliver a variety of literacy opportunities in 2014.

Here are some of the things we did:

~Gave out 7 Little Free Library grants
~Bought more book sets for the Adult Learner Book Clubs at each library
~Brought you Stories Galore and More to seven parks each week in the summer
~Presented 9 Family Literacy Workshops
~Helped to support Adult literacy tutors who work with Refugee women in the Tri-Cities
~Presented a free workshop on Clear Language
~Held a Canada Day picnic for over 400 Adult students and their families who are learning English
~Presented a free Food Safe course designed for Adults learning English in the Tri-Cities
~Offered a six session Senior's Writing Course called Memorable Moments
~Provided 500 Books for Babies bags for parents of newborns in the Tri-Cities
~Participated in numerous Community Events and promoted the importance of literacy
~Brought you this monthly Literacy Newsletter

Thank you to all of you who help support the literacy needs of our community members.  Let's continue to work together in 2015 for improved literacy for all.
