From Our Principal - Dr. Bonita Jungels
I am writing this letter as we experience a rainy fall weather day. I love the smell of leaves walking on the neighborhood trail, loudspeakers piping out the local high school football game and the sparks from the glow of a backyard bonfire. This time of year is so special in the events we experience and memories we create. NDA has our new schedule of fall events listed below; please mark these dates on your calendars. Just a reminder, next week we have llamas coming to NDA to visit; please join us!
We also have conferences fast approaching. On October 12th we plan to offer both in person and zoom conferences. However, we need some information on how many people would like each option so we can plan our time accordingly. We have created a google form to capture this information. We appreciate your help!
Thank you to everyone who signed up to volunteer for Grand Beginnings. We still need more volunteers to make this event happen. Positions such as Donation Callers only require a 2 hour time commitment and BidPal helpers or Basket Assembly volunteers are a 4+ hour commitment. Please check out our Sign Up Genius to see how you can help make this amazing evening and important fundraiser a reality.
Top 20 Tip - Please look for the Top 20 Parent Connection sheet that will come home hard copy next week. You will learn about our topic for the month of September: Creating a Culture. The back of the information sheet has an activity for you to do with your children. As we share our Top 20 concepts and strategies, please incorporate the language into your own daily lives. For instance, you can have a discussion about how your job as a family is to Help Each Other Succeed by Communicating You Matter in ways that include helping to set the table, mow the lawn or spend time together at the dinner table.
COVID related items - As we come to the end of September, we will be making a decision regarding what our mitigation strategies and COVID protocols related to masks will look like for October. We will share these decisions on Friday, October 1st. One new strategy that we will implement soon will be the availability of COVID testing for staff and students. We will share the details when we have more information.
We wish you an incredible weekend ahead.
Dr. Bonita Jungels
And my spirit continues in your midst; do not fear.

NDA will offer both in person and zoom conferences for grades K-8 on October 12th. Preschool conferences will be scheduled for later this fall. We need to get your feedback on which method, in person or zoom, you prefer so we can organize our time slots for each option accordingly on that day. Please fill out this short survey.
As the construction crews begin their work on the medians, please watch for traffic to shift lanes. They expect to move lanes next week.
We love to share photos from each week in our Insight so that you as parents can see some of the exciting things our students do. In order for us to share your child's photo, we need your permission, which is granted by turning in your signed handbook form. Please turn these forms in as soon as possible. Thank you.
Do you love children? And supporting your church community? Here is how you can help..
Our Notre Dame Academy Discovery Center is experiencing a staffing shortage this fall. While we are so proud of our staff for weathering the COVID challenges last year, we are trying not to have this hiring crisis affect our staff, program hours, and class days. To continue to provide excellent, quality care for the children in our program - WE NEED YOU!
There are several ways to help:
Please share our Job Opportunities with family, friends and friends-of-friends.
FULL AND PART TIME POSITIONS available for Aide, Assistant and Lead positions. Hourly rates start at $16.00/hour up to $25.00/hour depending on education and experience.
AIDE POSITIONS are great opportunities for older high-school and college-age students looking for part-time hours with great pay and a job that looks GREAT on a resume!
SUBSTITUTE POSITIONS are open for those unable to commit to a regular schedule. We would LOVE to add high-school, college-age young adults, or retirees to our SUB LIST. (AIDE SUB $16/hour; ASSISTANT SUB $16.25; LEAD SUB $18.25)
If interested, please email email@example.com. We will contact you to discuss positions, requirements, paperwork and opportunities to help.
Together, we can make a difference in the lives of the children we serve. God bless!

We are looking forward to another great NDA Women’s Weekend on November 12, 13 & 14 - at Grandview Lodge.Women's Weekend is a longtime tradition that all the women here at NDA are invited to. This is an opportunity to meet other women, enjoy a weekend away, relax, and have some fun together! As it gets closer, we'll organize a potluck for Friday night, and then the time is really up to you! In years past women will go to a movie, Nisswa, Grandview Spa, long walks, hang-out at cabin, grab drinks and dinner.
Reserved this year is an 8 bedroom cabin + 4 bedroom cabin + 3 bedroom cabin. Most of the rooms have 2 beds, and we are looking for people to share a room as comfortable (not share a bed - own bed in shared room). If you're interested in your own bedroom we will look to accommodate (4 available in group cabins), but please note it may be in a different part of the resort.
Registration: This year you'll have to sign-up on our Registration form - Group reservation closes on October 15. Anything after we may not be able to guarantee being in a group cabin. They are not taking individual reservations any longer, and everything is reserved under Sheila Bothwell. Once committed and signed-up on the Registration form, and we have final headcount (Oct. 15), Sheila will request payment.
Cost will be ~$160-$200 per person - depending on the # of people that attend.
Contact Sheila, #612-298-6953, with any questions. We hope to see you there!

Parent Reflection (From Today's Reading)
A remnant of the Jews has just returned to Judah from their exile in Babylon. They are exhausted. They are overwhelmed by the destruction they see. And they are fearful of what lies ahead for them. Enter the prophet Haggai with some very good news from God. "Take courage," says God. "I am with you." that word with means more than I am accompanying you. As the people soon learn, the word with means, "I am for you... I am in your corner... I am on your team." God promises the people that the glory of the new Temple will be even greater than the former one. Imagine how consoled the people were by such words.
But the best part of this story is this: God speaks those same words to us today. Whatever we may be exhausted from. Whatever we may feel overwhelmed by. Whatever we may be fearful of, God is with us. God is for us. God is in our corner.
