A bounty of gratitude

What's on our minds in November...

What we're thankful for

We read in the media a lot about the quick-riding "get rich quick" tech wave that is leading innovation in this country today. But in working with creative businesses of all types, we’ve seen that real innovation comes with filtering out the noise of what’s popular and forging your own unique path.

That’s why this month we’re paying our respects to prudence in entrepreneurship. This is for all the passionate entrepreneurs who are in it for more than just money, they’re in it to make a successful career doing what they love. For that, we’re thankful.

New York's Next Top Makers

The Next Top Makers program, a community incubator designed to promote the production of new products here in NYC, just announced six new fellows for its 2015-2016 program. Next year they’ve planned a series of workshops and pop-up events geared towards fellow product entrepreneurs.

The program is on the lookout for content experts and mentors in topics ranging from legal to design to manufacturing. To get involved, fill out their application or visit their website for more info.

Around the Table

The Thanksgiving Reader

A new tradition of giving thanks

Infuse a little unity into your annual turkey dinner with this free Thanksgiving Reader from Seth Godin. This beautifully illustrated collection features reflections on life, family, and gratitude. Print it and read it aloud with your family and friends at the dinner table to transform your holiday into something much more meaningful.

Failproof meals with smart gadgets

Let your iPhone do the cooking for you this holiday season. New fancy kitchen gadgets such as Pantelligent’s “smart” frying pan and Drop’s wireless measuring scale promise precision cooking and baking. Simply connect these tools to a smart phone app, and you’ll have the perfect medium-rare steak or flaky scones in no time.

Adding it all up...

“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.”
            —William Arthur Ward

This is always one of our favorite times of the year, not only because of the family, friends, and good food, but because it’s a time for us to reflect on the year and show gratitude. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
