Dear EYCN Delegates,
Welcome to the January edition of the EYCN newsletter.
EYCN promotes actions aiming to engage and involve more young chemists in activities such as conferences, meetings, and events that have chemistry as central subject.
1) The DA is almost ready. Please register as soon as you can using this website (http://11da.eventos.chemistry.pt/). There is a maximum of two delegates per society with the 120 € reduced fee (please check the website). Please register before the final deadline: February 29th.
2) We are organizing a dedicated program during the 6th EuCheMS Conference that will take place in Sevilla. Fréderique Backaert (immediate past Chair of EYCN) is a member of the scientific committee and responsible for the EYCN symposium. He wants to create four task forces to better organize the event. If you would like some additional information about this please email: frederique.backaert@eycn.eu.
3) The networks team, lead by Dr. Michael Terzidis, have arranged a collaboration with a COST Action within the Horizon 2020 program. We have created a scholarship that will fund the travel expenses, accommodation and conference fees to attend the "Young Investigators" session of the joint meeting that will take place 25th - 27th April 2016, in Grenoble (France). The winner will also be invited to present their results as an oral presentation.
4) We are pleased to announce the launch of the first European Photography Contest – PHOTOCHIMICA 2016. The competition is aimed, not only to the professional photographers or chemists, but to all of young people passionate about photography and chemistry. We want to promote the chemistry through the power of visual arts, by its presence in everyday life activities, from the photographic art, electronics industry, IT, medicine, food industry, the chemistry lab to the best alltime chemist, nature itself. Submission deadline: 6th of March 2016. For more details, please see the poster of the event and also the rules and regulations.
5) The Carbon Masterdag is an event organized in collaboration with the KNCV. On this day, Dutch Master programmes with a molecular orientation will present themselves to students. Students can ask questions about the content of the programme or admission requirements, for example. For an overview of the participating Master programmes head to our website. The Carbon Masterdag will be organized on Friday 29th of January 2016 from 16.00-19.00 in the Minnaert building on the campus of Utrecht University.
