CIT and Enable Ireland Collaboration Brings 3-D Gait Analysis Services for Children with Disabilities in Cork and Kerry
Dr. Ray Barry, Consultant Paediatrician; Prof Ger Kelly, Head of Department of Mechanical, Biomedical, and Manufacturing Engineering; Gillian O’Dwyer & Doireann Lynch, Senior Physiotherapists, Enable Ireland; Keith Bryan & Darren Dawson, Department of Mechanical, Biomedical, and Manufacturing Engineering; Dr Barry O'Connor, President of CIT.
 

Enable Ireland and Cork Institute of Technology announced the availability of a specialised 3-D gait analysis service for children with complex physical disabilities in Cork and Kerry. Prior to this, children and families have had to travel to Dublin to avail of this highly specialised medical assessment service, which can only be provided in a gait laboratory.

CIT's SIGMA Research Group at the Cutting Edge of Network Sliced Services
This video explains the SIGMA designed a MEC-based TeleStroke Assessment service which can be accessed on demand by paramedics in the ambulance, to assess symptoms of patients suspected of suffering from a stroke. 

5G network slicing is one of the most significant innovations in communications this decade and the SIGMA Research Group at Cork Institute of Technology is at the forefront of building new applications for 5G test-bed deployments. As part of the Horizon 2020 €8 million EU funded SliceNet project, the SIGMA Group has been actively experimenting with technologies such as Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence, Mobile Edge Computing and 5G Network Slicing.

Marketing and International Business Students Get Frank and Honest About Gourmet Coffee
The winning campaign presented by marketing students, Maureen Connolly, Fiona Malecot, Ciara Collins and Rachel Caulfield.

Frank and Honest Gourmet Coffee partnered with CIT’s Department of Marketing and International Business to develop an inventive and dynamic marketing campaign to ensure that Frank and Honest coffee is the chosen brand every time! In November 2018, 29 student groups showcased their work, on campus, to a judging panel that included DJ McAllen, Store Development Director and Director Sponsor at Frank and Honest; Rosemary Walsh, Marketing Manager at Frank and Honest and Gillian Clifford, Starcom (Frank and Honest media buying agency).

CAPPA Receives Disruptive Technologies Innovation Funding

CAPPA was one of 27 successful projects to receive funding from the Disruptive Technologies Fund established under Project Ireland 2040. The Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund, one of the world’s first worth €500 million, is aimed at tackling national and global challenges and a key part of the Government’s “Future Jobs” initiative.

CIT Advance Presents: Women in Technology Event 
Attendees at the CIT Advance Women in Technology event

On the 1st and the 8th of February CIT Nimbus Research Centre hosted the CIT Advance  'Women in Technology' event, designed to encourage and empower young women in their technology career path. 40 of CIT’s finest female tech students attended this two-day seminar where they were provided with expert mentorship by experienced tech professionals. 
In addition to top class speakers, the event included a series of workshops on CV preparation, interview techniques, tips for entering the career market, and advice on how to successfully build a brand.

SMEs Connect With CIT

CIT Extended Campus together with CIT Careers Service welcomed over 40 SMEs to the Bishopstown Campus for the Connect with CIT event on February 12th. Connect with CIT, now in its second year, enables smaller sized companies to explore work placement and recruitment opportunities with CIT students. The event also gives companies the opportunity to network with lecturers, programme coordinators and other employers and to discover ways to develop links with the Institute.
