An ailing father, informed that his son has recovered from schizophrenia, travels to the state mental hospital to take him home, only to discover he’s nowhere to be found.
This is the storyline of The Puzzle Factory, a semi-autobiographical, emotion-laden tale of a father coming to grips with his son’s devastating mental illness. It is, in a way, an ultimately hopeful postscript to the writer-director’s own journey over the last 20 years. The topic—confidence in God's sovereignty in the face of tragedy—could not be more timely. The National Institute of Mental Health reports that fully 1 out of 5 of our nation's children now suffer from debilitating mental disorders.
How can you help?
Most importantly, you can pray, which is particularly à propos for a project such as this, given that the film has its genesis in the prayer letters Cris sent out on behalf of his son so many years ago. The Puzzle Factory continues to be bathed in prayer. Join us!
Secondly, consider making a gift to help us produce this important film. Given that Messenger Films is a 501(c)(3) ministry, contributions are tax-deductible as allowed by law (EIN: 95-4217185). Finally, and perhaps most salient at year's end for those managing their tax burdens, Messenger Films has now established a Single Charity Fund through the National Christian Foundation to facilitate giving of all kinds of assets… not just cash and checks but also non-cash gifts like securities, real estate, and business interests. If you feel called to contribute in this way, please contact Director of Development Loyd Jenkins at loyd@messengerfilms.com or call 616-499-5429.
