Dear Supporters,

I would like to welcome you to The Liam Charity's first newsletter, as you may be aware I set out on a venture in 2012 to raise £100,000 for the NSPCC's ChildLine service in memory of my little brother Liam. Unbeknown to me at the time his love has brought so many together, making a huge difference to such a worthy cause and many lives, especially mine. I am extremely grateful for all those who have supported me up until this point, I will be sharing quarterly updates of my efforts and of the amazing volunteer team I now have behind me.
I would like to thank all at the NSPCC HQ after my recent visit, it was a great pleasure to meet so many inspirational people who work tirelessly on a day-to-day basis to prevent child cruelty; especially to CEO Peter Wanless who took time out of his busy schedule to listen to my story. It was a both humbling and insightful visit and it gives me great pride that the love for Liam is helping such an amazing organisation.
It gives me great pleasure to welcome local sports personality 'Pretty' Ricky Boylan to the team who has joined Emily Bennett as a TLC Ambassador. Ricky has already supported us in our most recent events and taken time out of his busy training regime to help the cause. Myself and the Team would like to wish him the best of luck  in his next title contest on 14th December which will feature on Sky Sports.
On 25th September, the first event of a busy couple of weeks for TLC, "Dangerous Dan's Skydive Challenge" took place in Headcorn, Kent. Daniel Clarke took to the sky after completing a four-month process to shed the pounds to satisfy strict health and safety requirements.

After initial postponement weeks earlier, Daniel took his new stramlined frame to altitudes in excess of 10,000ft to complete an exhilarating tandem parachute jump, raising £500 in the process.
It's not to late to donate
Moving into October, a packed weekend began with members of Team TLC uniting to take on a 100-mile Spinathon. A relay race at ASDA, Sutton saw the Team take on a team of ASDA staff lead by Community Life Champion Rachael Anderson; with the race taking place on spin bikes (Donated by Everyone Active: Phoenix Centre) in the store foyer.

A gruelling six-hour race saw myself, Ricky Boylan, Michael O'Sullivan, and the Bennett sisters Emily and Jess pip Team ASDA to victory by just 90 seconds. The event received wonderful support from the local community, with donations from the public reaching over £300.
Within 24 hours, The Liam Charity's next fundraiser was underway Tanya Godbeer, flanked by friend of Team TLC and marathon veteran, Hayley Zaire, took on the Royal Parks Ultra Marathon.

After months of dedication to their training programmes, the girls ran the 32-mile course through London, from Hyde Park to Bushy Park, taking in several city landmarks en route, including five of the capital's eight royal parks. A superb effort saw Tanya and Hayley complete the challenge in five hours and 51 minutes, raising an amazing £1,000... I am very much looking forawrd to Tanya bring me across the line in next years London Marathon.
After a packed schedule of fundraising events, the team joined me once again, a day later, to mark the third anniversary of Liam's passing. Tributes were paid at Glenthorne High School where Liam was educated and a tree stands within the ground in his memory. After lighting candles by the memorial, lanterns were released, each carrying hand-written messages to Liam.

I think it is safe to say we all took the opportunity to reflect on how my brothers' memory has touched each of our lives in different ways, whilst celebrating how he has inspired so many to contribute to the £28,000 raised in just 22 months since his fund was launched. He still and always will be the driving force behind mine and what is now know as The Liam Charity's efforts; to change the lives of vulnerable children and young adults whilst putting a smile on peoples faces.

With Thanks,

Aaron Hearne
