You are cordially invited to join us in 2 weeks, Tuesday, November 9 at 12:00 p.m. CT via Zoom for Interfaith Arkansas' Annual Gathering 2021 as we explore the theme "Who is My Neighbor? Cultivating a spirit of welcome in Arkansas."
2021 Theme
Overwhelmingly, our shared religious traditions invite us as individuals and communities to open our homes and open ourselves to others. The spirit of creating welcoming spaces for all is a key foundation of so many of our religious traditions.
But a spirit of welcome seems to be succumbing to fear and exclusion. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and with political tensions further dividing our country, how can local religious groups and religious leaders from an interfaith perspective lead our communities to keep creating a spirit of welcome in Arkansas? How can we do this imaginatively during a pandemic that sometimes necessitates physical distance?
Our Speaker
We will explore these questions and more with Nellie Beall who will deliver a keynote address and join us for conversations and questions. Nellie Beall is a Co-Sponsor Coordinator with Canopy Northwest Arkansas. Nellie has extensive professional experience in non-profit and cross-cultural work. In addition to her full time work at Canopy, Nellie co-founded and operates Intersection NWA, an organization that works alongside the homeless community in NWA. She also served as an educator and moderator with Be the Bridge, an organization focused on racial reconciliation.
Canopy Northwest Arkansas was created in 2016 to provide resettlement assistance for refugees coming to Arkansas, and it seeks to provide refugees with a good, safe home in Northwest Arkansas and believes that NWA is a stronger, more diverse community thanks to these new neighbors.
