Women - Leadership in Sport and Physical Activity

Leadership. Teamwork. Perseverance. Discipline. Grit. Who knew, as children playing games in the schoolyard, that we were gaining attributes that would guide us through life?
 
Athletes have known it all along.
 
Research shows a direct correlation between girls’ participation in sport and greater achievement in higher education and employment — in fact, a majority of leading female executives first found success in athletics. Sport also nurtures acceptance by bringing people together across borders, cultures and belief systems. It can promote greater tolerance and understanding among individuals and communities.

2015 - The Year of Sport in Canada


Over half way through the year that has been proclaimed as the Year of Sport, it is refreshing to see how many sporting events have been held  and are being held this year in Canada.

Canada was the host country to hold the FIFA Women's World Cup, the matches being played in Edmonton, Vancouver, Montreal, Winnipeg and Moncton between June 6 to July 5. 

InMotion Network was one of the leading sponsors of the Women in Soccer Conference, hosted by the Alberta Soccer Association. The 2015 Women's Conference was held on June 6th and 7th in Edmonton. Over 40 women attended the conference.

One of the largest multi sport events ever to held in Canada, are the Pan and Parapan American Games.
The 20 most notable Canadian athletes to watch out for at the PanAm games, include many girls and women who have excelled at sport, including Paula Findlay, 26, of Edmonton, AB, who has her sights set on a Pan Am medal on home soil.
