“Why do we get all this life if we don’t ever use it? Why do we get all these feelings and dreams…if we don’t ever use them?” WILLY RUSSELL, Shirley Valentine
August is almost over but that doesn't mean the summer has to end yet! Get one more read in before real life begins again. This month we've got two new releases for you to savour, as well as some characteristically mouth-watering BFP deals, exclusively available from our website www.bene-factum.co.uk. We may be working hard but that doesn't mean you should be…
After the success of our Book of the Month from July, in the spirit of the season, we’re keeping THINGS CAN ONLY GET FETA (groan for the pun) on offer, this time in combination with one of our favourite older titles, IN THE DOLPHIN’S WAKE. Continuing with the Greek theme, this is the wander-lustful account of Harry Bucknall’s island-hopping adventures across the eastern Mediterranean from Venice to Istanbul. Along the way he absorbs the rich melting pot of history, mythology and everyday life that the region has to offer, eruditely, charmingly and often hilariously. This is an ideal escapist read for those summer evenings, wherever you are, providing a treasure trove of ideas for your next holiday. We’re offering both titles for just £10.00, saving you a delightful £5.98…which we suggest you invest in a bottle of Greek wine for when you settle down with your new books!
£7.99 each. £10.00 for both from BFP website when you enter our unique promotional code*:

Onto our new releases. Earlier this year, the veterans of the Arctic convoys of World War II were finally recognised for their services with the Arctic star. To celebrate this long overdue acknowledgement, BFP has re-released the charming and bittersweet memoir of Graeme Ogden (father of our seasoned SOE writer, Alan). Harrowing and yet human, MY SEA LADY follows the crew of the Lady Madeleine on her voyages across the icy waters of the north, taking on cruel nature as well as a relentless enemy. Laced with wicked humour and a heart-warming narrative, this is a fresh account of a little-remembered part of the war.
£8.99 from BFP website. Also available as an eBook from Amazon and other e-tailers.
Also just out is MAINSTAY, the autobiography of Val ffrench Blake, a twentieth-century all round renaissance man with an insatiable joie-de-vivre and an ability to try his hand at any experience, from music and art, to warfare, mountaineering, and horsemanship. With almost one hundred years of wisdom and experience to impart, the author recounts his life with clarity, humour, and even one or two words of warning here and there, rounding it out with a rich panoply of characters and friends that accompanied him along the way.
£20.00 from BFP website. Also available as an eBook from Amazon and other e-tailers.
The acclaimed IT’S ALL GOING TERRIBLY WRONG is back on the road with its author Sir Michael Parker taking a whistle-stop tour of the literary festivals. Next stop Henley on 30th September and it’s not too late to book tickets to see the hugely entertaining Parker in his element. As the supreme organiser of a few decades worth of royal weddings, jubilees, and military tournaments, he and his book take you behind the scenes to see just how disastrously these things can (and often do) go wrong….usually to the great amusement of the Queen. The prematurely-exploding fireworks of Charles and Diana’s wedding is just one of the juicy anecdotes on a very long list. To book tickets for the event go to www.henleyliteraryfestival.co.uk/2013programme/.
£15.00 from BFP website. Save £5.00! Also available as an eBook from Amazon and other e-tailers.
And finally NOT OUT FIRST BALL, which last month was chosen for the Kindle Daily Deal and proved wildly popular as a result. As a thank you and to celebrate England’s splendid triumph over Australia in the Ashes, we’ve kept prices low and the eBook is still available for only £1.99! Get your hands on this hilarious grand tour of amateur cricket, described by David Gower as “comedy and romance in equal parts…Comedy, because these people really are bad at cricket”!
£9.99 from BFP website. Only £1.99 as eBook from Amazon and other e-tailers.
