Hosted by InternetNZ, Lillian Grace, CEO and founder of Figure.NZ will talk to her vision of democratising New Zealand’s data and creating a culture where people are great at using data. A world-first effort, Figure.NZ brings public sector, private sector and academic data together in one place and in various consistent formats - simple graphs, tables and a public API, so that it is easy for anyone to get data. Lillian will share stories with you about progress and plans to date (including how she’s been engaging and getting traction with government agencies and other data providers), about the unique software they’ve developed, and she’ll also show you how having New Zealand’s public data at your fingertips can help you.

Lillian is frequently asked to speak as a leader on a variety of topics including data, innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship. She was invited to address all public sector CEs at their Executive Leadership Summit in 2015, where she spoke on the similarities, differences and relationships between the public and private sectors and how we can better work together. Other speaking engagements include: TEDxAuckland, Statistics New Zealand Official User Forum, Xerocon, Microsoft’s TechEd, Open Source / Open Society, Mindstorm, Women in Leadership, Global Women, SAS’s SUNZ, and plenary speaker at Canterbury Statistics Teachers Day.

Lillian was previously at Academy Award-Winning Massive Software, and at think tank The New Zealand Institute. She is currently on the board of the NZ Innovation Partnership and of Te Pūnaha Matatini, New Zealand’s new Centre of Research Excellence developing methods and approaches for transforming complex data about NZ into knowledge, tools, and insight.
