I sometimes wonder, "can life honestly throw me another curve ball?" Then here comes a barrage of them. On the 18th anniversary of the death of my beloved brother, my mother needed to be put in the hospital because of dehydration and a possible infection, always unsure if today will be her last day on earth with us. Then, the dreaded fall my sister took and broke her ankle. I honestly wonder why I get up out of bed and this is just my close family. I ask the Good Lord to give me the strength, and then it happens. I look for the good and I always find it. In the emergency room, my mom gets room #18 and I know Chase is there with me..."Hey buddy, thanks for joining us!" I think to myself. Then I get a text from a friend. "Looks what's coming to my town!"...its an article about the Milford Race4Chase Kids Tri program. That made my day! I'm learning to live in the moment, not be upset by things that are beyond my control but to embrace the moment. As my mom was starting to feel a little better because she was getting the fluids she needed, she smiled at me because I was just with her. (thats a moment) It's a difficult journey that I'm on personally, but I find that if you look for the special moments, if you look past the negative, there is always a positive. Sometimes, just maybe, there are more positive possibilities if you choose to see them. My whole day shot spent in the ER? Well, you can look at it that way or you can look at it as some time spent with my daughter and mother, making a doctor laugh, or finding the humor in bodily functions with two nurses. Not to mention seeing my mother eat a whole cup of rice pudding and actually enjoying it. If you have ever had the pleasure of meeting my mother, you would know that was a special moment. Lastly, my final love hug again from Chase putting my mom in her room on 9W*"8" I knew she was in good hands and my angels in heaven would be watching over my angel on earth. This journey is teaching me things everyday, and the friends we have gained along the way are priceless, It may not always feel like it, you may choose not to see the signs, but I know we are all blessed. Just open your heart, see past the negative, find the positive, feel blessed to be in the moment.
