A Word from the Kowalski Family
It is when we reach out of our comfort zone and extend a hand that we find a new friend. It is all of those hands that we are thankful for. As difficult as it can be, we reach for the positive, trust in all the good the world has to offer so can we find a reason to keep moving forward. We have come so far honoring Chase's spirit yet we have only just begun. It is with all of this support that we say Thank you to all!

Brown University Ladies Basketball: A Heart-felt Thanks
We recently had the opportunity to attend a Brown University Women's Basketball game. Basketball wasn't a game that Chase played in an organized fashion, but like most families we have a hoop in our driveway and often Steve would be out there shooting with all three kids. He often found it a way to have a conversation without sitting down to "talk." It was a way to connect with the kids while let off some steam and letting the conversations get started. The game was great and exciting and it was a pleasure to be a part of attending it, but what stands out the most to me is meeting a group of girls that is conscious of its heart, the act of compassion and providing support to others. This team has supported our cause since our heart was broken. It all started with a simple card that meant so much to a member of our team, he decided to return the thought and from there a true friendship has started. It is very knowing that we have been able to establish these kinds of relationships through the thoughtfulness of others. We would like to thank the Womens basketball team, Coach Burr and all the wonderful people at Brown University for their support of CMAK Foundation and the Race4Chase.
March 7th is Fairfield County Giving Day: Help CMAK win Prize money!
Help CMAK compete for prize money up to $25,000 as part of Fairfield County Giving Day. If CMAK receives the most donations (not the most money) through the online campaign it will receive $25,000 cash prize. So we ask all our supporters to make a small contribution to CMAK ($10.00 minimum). The first $1k donated will be matched by organizers and there are other prizes up for grabs as well. You can learn more about the specifics or make donations on March 7th at www.fcgives.org. We will send another reminder as the date approaches. If we are successful, this alone will allow us to start an additional Race4Chase Kid’s Tri program next year.
Race4Chase Kid’s Triathlon Program: Update
Thanks to the support of both Timex USA, Inc and USA Triathlon, we have secured some of our needs for equipment. We are still seeking suppliers of bikes and helmets as we equip our three programs commencing in June 2014. Any assistance in identifying potential suppliers would be greatly appreciated. The three sites are currently finalizing the application process for entry into the program and we will relay details to all supporters once the information becomes available. Please make plans to attend the programs culminating triathlon, “THE FINALE,” at Camp Mataucha in Watertown Ct on August 2nd, 2014. It should be a fine display of effort commitment and achievement from these young triathletes.
The Quest Continues: 3rd Marathon Complete!
Erin Flanagan conquers Austin Marathon in Chase’s Honor
Erin Flanagan’s quest to run a marathon in every state moved to the southwest as she finished the Austin Marathon on February 16th. Erin overcame a nagging hip injury which disrupted her training to finish under four hours. Erin is pictured here holding the Race4Chase banner proudly displayed by her fan club to encourage her along the route. The spectators were all supportive of her efforts.
If her training allows, she is now contemplating competing in two more east coast marathons in May in North Carolina and Vermont.
Race4Chase travels to Australia
Joyce Webb from Orlando, West Virginia ventured all the way to Sydney Australia donning her Race4Chase shirt to compete in the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival Half Marathon. Here she is pictured with her R4C shirt and bib with the Sydney Opera House in the background. There have been reports of Race4Chaser’s competing as far away as New Zealand but this is the first concrete evidence of an international effort. Join Joyce and share your Race4Chase adventures by sending stories and photo to email@example.com.
