2016 Race4Chase Youth Triathlon Program:
MOU Signing Ceremony Celebrates Program's Success
The Race4Chase Kids Triathlon Program embarked on its third year of operation by confirming fourteen program sites throughout Connecticut at its official MOU signing ceremony that took place at the the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, Ct on Thursday, January 28th. CMAK also confirmed that the Program will have its first site outside of Connecticut at the Upper Palmetto Regional YMCA in Fort Mill, South Carolina. The ceremony was well attended with representatives from each of the sites including YMCA Board members, administrators and coaches.
Many CMAK supporters and sponsors were also there to witness the commitment to the program by the CMAK Foundation and the Race4Chase sites which will lead to close to 500 children ages 6-12 years participating in the six week program culminating in a USAT sanctioned triathlon at YMCA Camp Sloper on August 6th, 2016.
The ceremony opened by recognizing CMAK's support of pre-school education through grants provided to the Greater Waterbury YMCA preschool program to provide financial assistance to students in need. The Kowalski family presented a snowflake box to the preschool students and teachers in attendance. Also, as part of the ceremony, CMAK announced its agreement with the Bikes for Kids Foundation of Saybrook, CT whereby Bikes for Kids will provide refurbished bicycles to the program sites and the participants.
The six new program sites were presented their official Race4Chase plaques to be mounted at their home base. Race4Chase sponsorship plaques were presented to Dave Fowler, President of Bikes for Kids and David Stowe, President of DOT Generation, for their support of CMAK.
Birthday 2 Birthday Challenge 2016
The 2nd Annual Birthday 2 Birthday Challenge is off to a running (spinning?) start. This year, the challenge is focused on bicycling where participants will be asked to ride 1100 miles over the course of the year leading up to Chase's 11th birthday, October 31st, 2016. Participants are logging their daily biking miles (whether on their trainer or on the roads/trails) and advise when they have reached their 1100 mile milestone.
Zane Cycles is offering Specialized Men's Crosstrail and Specialized Women's Ariel bikes at a significant discount to participants who need to upgrade their wheels and provide bicycle accessories at discounted prices as well. For more details, participants can contact Tom at Zane Cycles at 203 488 3244. Remember: For those not inclined to bike, you can still qualify for the FINALE by submitting 11 bibs from athletic competitions that you participated during the year. Planning for the FINALE is underway and more details will be provided in this space in the months to come.
There is still time to accept the challenge. Please email email@example.com so we can keep you up to date on the opportunities to get together in pursuit of the challenge. Our first running event of the year will be the Sandy Hook 5k (see events) and we are hoping to get a good group together on Boston Marathon weekend to participate in the Midnight Course Bike Ride on Sunday night, April 17th , 2016. (See Race4Chase below)
CMAK is Rockin' Again!
Back by popular demand, CMAK is hosting its third Rockin' Jump Event on Thursday, February 18th, 2016 from 3pm to 8pm at the Rockin' Jump Trampoline Park
at 25 Trefoil Drive in Trumbull, CT. Get the kids out of the cold (and the house) for a few hours of play time in support of the CMAK Foundation. Our friends at Rockin' Jump will donate a portion of the proceeds to CMAK and there will be CMAK apparel on sale on site including special Race4Chase jumping socks.
CMAK extends a special thanks to Mr. Mac's Canteen
who provided their venue to promote this event on February 10th. The evening produced advanced sales for Rockin' Jump as well as over $400.00 in donations to CMAK.
CMAK and Kowalski Family Honored at Southington-Cheshire Community YMCA Annual Dinner
CMAK and the Kowalski family want to express a special thanks to our friends at the Southington-Cheshire Community YMCA who invited us to participate in their Annual Dinner which recognizes impactful people and programs at the YMCA over 2015.
The Southington-Cheshire YMCA led by John Myers, Executive Director, and Mark Pooler, Director of Operations, were generous hosts of the Race4Chase Kids Triathlon Finale at their spectacular venue at YMCA Camp Sloper in Southington. The staff and picturesque grounds at Camp Sloper provided an ideal setting for the FINALE where close to 250 Race4Chase Triathletes were crowned and over 1000 people were in attendance.
In recognition of the success of the event and program, CMAK and the Kowalski family were presented with the Healthy Living Award for the people and programs that encouraged healthy living styles amongst its members in 2015.

Race4Chase Boston Marathon Team Continues to Grow
The Race4Chase Boston Marathon Team has increased to seven members. Jeanne Corey from Travelers in Hartford has joined the team and we wish her well in her training. Our runners have entered the toughest phase of their training programs just as old man winter finally awakes from his slumbers. The Crowdrise Race4Chase Boston Marathon fundraising page currently shows over $11,500 raised to date with Kristen Havey jumping to the top of the board with the success of her Paint Nite Fundraiser (see below). She surpassed the minimum fundraising goal and her personal goal with the recent surge in donations. Stephen Pelletier has organized a special fundraising night as well (see below) which we encourage anyone in the area to support.
CMAK will continue to encourage runners that have registered for Boston to join the Race4Chase team and dedicate their efforts to a worthy cause, wear the Race4Chase uniform and share in the CMAK sponsored Sunday brunch at the Wahlburg's Alma Nove Restaurant in Hingham, MA, just outside Boston. Our team is currently the same size as the 2015 team and it is our goal to increase the team size each year, so we are looking for more members.
For those not qualified for the marathon but would like to join in the festivities for the Boston Marathon weekend, CMAK will be trying to organize a Race4Chase team to participate in the Boston Marathon 5k race on Saturday, April 16th, 2016 and the Boston Marathon Midnite Cycle, the night before the Marathon. This will be the first activity for participants in the B2B Cycle Challenge to get together for some fun riding. More to come on this activity as we get closer to the event.
Race4Chase: "BOYLSTON or BUST"
Join Stephen Pelletier
on Boylston Street at McGreevy's Boston
on March 3rd, 2016 from 7-9pm as he displays his bartending skills in a fundraiser for his Boston Marathon campaign for CMAK. All tips and part of the sales proceeds will be contributed towards his campaign.
Let's put Stephen in sight of the finish line for his campaign goal at this 26 mile mark location !
Kristen Havey's Race4Chase Paint Night a Huge Success!
Kristen Havey expressed her gratitude to all of her supporters that participated in the Paint Night and Silent Auction at the Barking Dog Ale House in Haverhill, MA on January 28th. As evidenced by the photos below, there was a wide range of interpretations of the vibrant coastline-skyline theme which was the subject matter for the budding artists. But what the artists did agree upon was their support for Kristen's Boston Marathon gambit and her support for the CMAK Foundation. The evening raised over three thousand dollars in support of the Foundation's programs and put Kristen beyond her goal of $6,000 for her fundraising campaign. Her efforts are greatly appreciated and we look forward to seeing her achieving her Boston goal in April.
