Reminder:  Next Race4Chase Team Gathering!

In a celebration of the recent partnership established between CMAK and the Greater Waterbury-YMCA, we have decided to participate in the Fischang-Cicchetti Memorial 5k and 5 Miler which is organized by and staged at the Waterbury YMCA. This will give everyone the opportunity to learn more about the Race4Chase Kid's Triathlon Program and receive an update on the status of "Chase's Place" and the new Pomperaug region YMCA plus see the location of the pre-school program. It will also give the Race4ChaseTeam a chance to go beyond the 5k distance if you are up for the challenge. Click here for entry form or here to register online. Please let us know you are coming via CMAK Facebook event or emailing our team captain for the race, Katie Blake, at

Newtown Pumpkin Festival- A Successful Event for the Whole Family

Children and their families from Newtown and surrounding communities descended upon the Fairfield Hills Campus on October 12th, 2013 to enjoy a fun filled, family friendly afternoon and evening. Participants were entertained by live music while they strolled the grounds to spot their favorite pumpkin carvings or partake in the many food offerings. The CMAK tent was bustling with activity with live magical performances by Chris Lengyel ( and a guest appearance by Thrasher, the Monster Truck. The children enjoyed the many games and prizes while the LEGO pumpkin guessing game attracted a lot of attention. After the sun had set, the pumpkins were lit for all to enjoy. The CMAK Foundation was able to raise approximately $2,500 through this event with $1,500 coming from its sponsorship of the overall event and the balance from our activities at the CMAK tent. But, most importantly, it was a wonderful day enjoyed by many children and their families of the community. Our participation could not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors and volunteers. We thank you all! The Foundation intends to make this an annual event and will let you know when the date is set for next year.

Amazing Chase Event

The Chase Collegiate School of Waterbury CT dedicated its Annual Homecoming "Amazing Chase" event to Chase Kowalski and the CMAK Foundation. This event is a contest fashioned around the "Amazing Race" format where participating teams would follow clues which brought them to various stations throughout Waterbury where they would need to perform whatever the station required before receiving their next clue and moving to the next station. Two of the stations were designed with Chase Kowalski in mind. The first was a mini golf contest (which Chase loved to do) at Lasar Planet in Waterbury and the second station required participants to make the Chase Kowalski Patriot bracelet designed by "Bead of Roses" from the string and beads provided. The bracelets are sold to raise money for the Foundation. The Kowalski and Orzechowski families were the CMAK entrants in the race which included rolling a team member in a Zorb ball through an obstacle course, finger printing at a police station and performing a golf ball relay with fish heads and an octopus. The CMAK entrants did not come away with the top prize but they had a few good stories to tell when they returned home. A special thanks to Jen Heitske and Nancy Portolese who helped stage the mini golf station and photography for the day.
