There is nothing like a spring vacation to kick you into full swing of what is to come and figuring out where you want to go with you swimming, biking or running. There is still time to get the discounted costs on 5k runs cycling events, triathlons, almost anything you set your goal on.
As I sit relaxing by the pool, I've had a few moments of young blonde boys running around playing and my first thought always goes to Chase. I miss him more as time goes by, I worry I wouldn't recognize that sweet face, but I keep looking. There is no boy that could fill that sad void and beautiful heart I long to see just one more time. I remind myself often that my story would not exist without his. I think how much my life has changed. How I long for the past but how I'm learning to live in the present, to be mindful and to better myself physically and mentally.
Anxiety, self doubt, sadness, anger are always lurking in the dark shadows of my mind. It's a constant battle but I find myself fighting it most when I'm trying to relax especially when I am by myself. How can relaxing, checking out and unplugging be so nice, if you find your mind putting doubts in your head and causing your heart to ache. As I remind myself of the great work that we are doing, I can shake it off. As I am on this beautiful island of Antigua, a piece of Paradise. It's hard not to think of Chase, but, as always, I was asking for a sign and, almost on cue, I look out the window and I spot my rainbow bridge in the clouds. My boy hears me and never fails to share his love !

Birthday 2 Birthday Challenge 2016
The 2nd Annual Birthday 2 Birthday Challenge continues to grow. Although this challenge focuses on bicycling, participants can meet the challenge through running, swimming, walking or all the above if they log the equivalent number of hours in training of riding 1100 miles up until Chase's 11th birthday, October 31st, 2016. (1 mile swimming = 5 mile running = 12 mile biking)
The B2B Challenge Fundraiser organized at the Riverside YMCA in Wilton was a good example of how the challenge is open to all athletes in training. The Riverbrook Regional YMCA had its kickoff event for the B2B Challenge encouraging members to accept the Challenge while fundraising for the operation of the local Race4Chase Kids Triathlon Program. This initiative has 25 members already signed up and logging miles. Rebecca Kowalski joined for the event and participated in the first hour long spin class with some of the B2B Challenge participants.
The Birthday 2 Birthday Challenge will have its first event in conjunction with the Boston Marathon weekend. Race4Chase supporters will be cycling the Boston Marathon course at midnight (Sunday, April 17th, 2016) the night before the marathon. So far we have five cyclist who will join the hoards (hundreds) of other cyclists in riding in this Boston Marathon ritual. This is the first experience that anyone from CMAK has in participating in this night run so it should be an adventure (as well as lots of fun). The ride is an unsupported event so everyone is on their own to arrange transportation and make sure they are in shape and have the necessary gear to complete the ride. For more information concerning this ride, please refer to the following Facebook page created by some local cyclist to encourage participation. MIDNITE BOSTON BIKE RIDE
There is still time to accept the challenge. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org
so we can keep you up to date on the opportunities to get together in pursuit of the challenge.
USA Triathlon Foundation Renews its Support to CMAK
The USA Triathlon Foundation has confirmed that they will continue to support the growth of the Race4Chase Kids Triathlon Program through its 2016 Grant program whereby USAT Foundation will provide a grant to CMAK to help cover operating expenses of the Race4Chase Kids Triathlon Program.
Along with their confirmation, USA Triathlon Foundation cited that the Race4Chase Kids Triathlon Program aligns with their mission to support youth triathloning nationally while “Building a Healthier America Through Triathlon."
The CMAK Foundation is much appreciative and proud of the support shown by the national governing body of the sport which goes beyond the monetary support associated with this grant. With key assistance from entities like USA Triathlon, we will be able to continue to expand the program's outreach and turn on this nation's youth to triathloning and all its benefits, just like Chase!
Fleet Feet Celebrates Rebecca Kowalski
Fleet Feet gave their Power of Running to Inspire Award to Rebecca Kowalski earlier this year and spent one week earlier this month documenting a video in her honor which will air at all of their stores and website in the coming months. Their work which included taking footage at the Waterbury YMCA and the Sandy Hook 5k (see below), culminated with a fun run from their West Hartford store on April 6th. We will send out links to the final production which is expected to air by the end of May.

Race4Chase Team: Boston Marathon Weekend is HERE !!!!
It has been a long journey for all our Race4Chase Boston Marathon team as they prepared for the Monday's big event. Now what is left is rest, hydration and counting down the hours. CMAK will celebrate their efforts with our 2nd annual Race4Chase Boston Marathon Brunch at Alma Nove Restaurant in Hingham, MA on Sunday, April 17th. Each of our runners have many friends and family who have helped and encouraged them to reach this point, making the many hours of training more bearable. They also went out of their way to contribute to their fundraising campaigns. We are happy to report that these campaigns have already raised over $20k for the programs of the CMAK Foundation and are over $2k ahead of the pace set by last year's Boston Marathon team. Kristen Havey has surpassed Zoe Schwalije as the highest fundraiser on any Race4Chase Boston Marathon team by collecting over $8k for CMAK. Stephen Pelletier is not far from Zoe's mark ($7.8k) either as he nears the $7k level. Kelly Dillon recently surpassed her goal of 1k raised, while John "Moose" Wlliams has set his fundraising record for the third year running on the Race4Chase team, closing in on $3k. Please check out how well all of the Race4Chase runners are doing with their campaigns and help support their efforts at the following link: 2016 Race4Chase Boston Marathon Team Fundraiser

Join Race4Chase on the 2016 Boston Marathon Midnight Bike Ride
A group of CMAK supporters including Rebecca Kowalski will join in on the 2016 Boston Marathon Midnight Bike Ride on Sunday evening April 17th, 2016 which follows the Boston Marathon course from the start line in Hopkinton MA to the finish line on Boylston street. This is an unsupported ride made by hundreds of cyclists and each individual rider is responsible for his transportation and equipment including having helmet, proper lighting/illumination given that it is a night ride with many dark roadways. If you are interested in joining the Race4Chase supporters, you can find more information at the following Facebook page created for the event: Boston Midnight Ride
For the fourth year, the Race4Chase community assembled at the Sandy Hook 5k in Fairfield Hills, Newtown on April 2nd. The Race4Chase contingent donned their new blue and green Race4Chase t-shirts provided by Fleet Feet Sports in celebration of Rebecca Kowalski receiving the Fleet Feet's Power to Inspire Award. The wet weather did not dampen the spirits of the Race4Chase team and the Sandy Hook 5k as a whole.
