Dear Friends and a good day to you all,
This will be my last newsletter for the year as I prepare to go on vacation leave.
2016 will draw to a close in just a few weeks and just as quickly as that occurs a new year will be ushered in. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all of your support through-out this year and look forward to another year of partnership. Without you we wouldn´t be able to do all that we do, reaching out to the most vulnerable and serving the poorest of the poor. From the youngest newborn baby to the eldest of our grannies and grandpa´s we express heartfelt appreciation for your love and support. Thank you.
From Isaiah´s we have a few snippets to share from the last month or two;
  • Baby Angela came into temporary care as we explored reunification options with her extended family, unfortunately her mom was not well and in her poor health could not adequately care for her. Thankfully her grandparents were willing and able.
  • 3 of our young boys graduated from the Early Childhood Development Class at Early Learning Centre and will next year start grade one at Milton Junior School for boys.
  • Our very special young boy with cerebral palsy, Kudakwashe, was awarded a prize at their annual prize-giving of “Best Student in the Class”. Kuda is always such a cheerful lad and works with great determination in everything he does.
Here are a few pictures of our produce from the Children of Grace Agriculture Project – in the last few months we´ve enjoyed freshly picked peas, carrots, green beans, spinach, beetroot, green peppers and tomatoes are next! We are praying for good rains to fall as this will improve food sustainability for all.
Lighthouse worked extremely hard for their end of year play “An evening of Worship”. The teachers and students performed a very well orchestrated drama based on the biblical story of Esther – nothing is impossible with God! They had a variety of song, dance performances and poetry too. A wonderful evening was enjoyed by fellow students and parents.

Lastly a word from me personally as I reflect on the end of this year
It's that time of the year again. December has come and with it all the joys of Christmas. But what does the season of Christmas mean to you? Is it that special lunch or dinner? Is it gifts under a decorated tree? Is it Bright lights in the shop windows or the glittering streets? Is it the pretty sparkling cards in the mail or the snow that falls in the yard. Is it the white-bearded man carrying a big red sack dressed snugly in his red suit or is it those stockings hung above the fireplace? Is it the joy of carols being played, people laughing and dancing, saying "Merry Christmas"? Is this what Christmas is really about?  For a lot of people, Christmas is a time of sorrow. Some might not get a present this year because there isn´t any money to buy one. No new shirts for the boys nor dresses for the girls!  For some a special lunch or dinner is just a dream because granny doesn´t have any money to buy anything.  For some Christmas is such a sad time when they think of their loved ones who are not together or those who have passed away. Some have family members who are very sick and it´s hard to be happy at a time like this.
But we at Our Neighbours know differently - Christmas is a season of great joy. It is a time we reflect and remember God showing His great love for us. WHY - because Christmas is when we celebrate the incredible birth of the Christ child. God sent His Son, Jesus, into the world born to bring the good news of salvation. This was no ordinary child!
Christmas is a time to be happy, no matter what may happen, even when there isn´t a dollar to spare we know that we are God´s children and Heaven will be our home one day. Therein lies an expectance of excitement and wonder.
Have a blessed Christmas, treasure every moment of life, and see you again in the New Year
God bless
