Greetings Butterfly Dreamz Tribe!
Growing up, cash was always my favorite incentive. If you have a convo with my dad, he'll tell you stories about how the kids in our family left him broke by earning A's on our report cards. :-) Well, last month I got a taste of what my dad experienced. We kicked off our Cocoon Club Cash, an incentive that awards girls cash prizes for their leadership achievements.

Overall, our girls submitted 52 achievements! We had 23 girls who made the honor roll, 10 girls who applied for colleges/career programs, 8 girls who took on a leadership role in their school or community, 4 girls who were accepted into colleges/career programs, and 2 girls who applied for scholarships.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we were able to award 8 girls up to $50 each! Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and/or LinkedIn to learn more about the girls who were selected. We'll be highlighting a member each week!
Much love & light,
Joy & Team

When our girls understand their learning styles, they can 1.) improve how they study, 2.) communicate their learning preferences and challenges to their educators, and 3.) advocate for their needs. This month we're introducing our girls to learning styles, using the VARK model: visual learners, auditory learners, reading/writing learners, and kinesthetic learners. Watch our latest Lead with Joy video to learn more about each style and to get helpful study strategies.

Meet a Leader from Herstory
Meet civil rights activist & journalist, Daisy Lee Gatson Bates (Nov 11, 1914 – Nov 4, 1999). With her husband, L.C. Bates, she published the first weekly African American newspaper in Arkansas, the Arkansas State Press. This month we’re exploring the role and responsibility of the media in civil rights activism, using the life and work of Bates as an inspiration to design our own newspapers. To learn more, download our Be a Journalist #TBT challenge.
