Dear colleagues,
It is my pleasure to invite you to read this newsletter, the first to be published since my election as President of ENQA.
This issue contains many articles written by the staff of the ENQA Secretariat, but it also features an abundance of those submitted by members, affiliates, and partners. Hopefully you will find it interesting to read about one of the first experiences of an agency using the European Approach for Quality Assurance of Joint Programmes and to learn the outcomes of one agency’s recent thematic evaluation on how higher education institutions are promoting sustainable development. Perhaps you will find yourself in agreement with conclusions drawn during a recent conference in Belfast, or maybe you will be inspired to submit an abstract on recent work in the area of university-industry interaction. In fact, several calls are detailed herein, including one to host an upcoming ENQA Members’ Forum or General Assembly. Several reports have been recently published, including one by ENQA’s working group on quality assurance and recognition, the recommendations in which I hope you will consider.
Above all, I would like to take the opportunity to welcome ENQA’s newest Board members, Review Committee members, and affiliates; I look forward to collaborating with you all.

The European Approach for Quality Assurance of Joint Programmes was adopted at the Bologna Process Ministerial Conference in Yerevan in May 2015. The European Approach is a step towards minimising barriers in external quality assurance of joint programmes. > More
ENQA’s Working Group VII on Quality Assurance and Recognition published its final report, entitled Current practices on external quality assurance of academic recognition among QA agencies. > More

The European Association of Distance Teaching Universities (EADTU) has recently published a report stemming from its September Peer Learning Activity (PLA) on QA of blended and online education. > More
With universities and governments alike paying greater attention to learning and teaching (L&T) in higher education, the European University Association (EUA) strengthened its activities on the topic last year and launched the L&T Initiative. > More

A consortium of cooperating public and private universities from Austria, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, and Slovenia requested AQ Austria to conduct an external quality assurance of its joint master’s programme in Political Science – Integration and Governance (PoSIG) according to the European Approach for Quality Assurance for Joint Programmes. > More
