Eau de Ladybug Deters Pests
Lady bugs are important predators of aphids. Researchers at Penn State identified the key chemicals in the lady bug’s signature scent that can cause aphids to flee for fear of being devoured. The resulting “odor cocktail” is being tested as a toxin-free pesticide in different crop systems.
